Mal this year - replaced next year at full back by Courtney Johns.

....Glad that didn't happen.

Lloyd was struggling in his final year.

He made the right call.
He was a little..but we didn't exactly have a whole heap of young talent banging the door down at the time. His leadership was important and I don't think it was entirely his decision to call it quits

Yeah, to completely contradict myself, I am pretty disappointed that he didn't stick around an extra year to help mentor Jobe, as was the tradition until then.

Even Jobe mentioned that in his Brownlow speech.

He wasn't getting a high level of supply in his final years either.

I think he could have gone on another year playing deep forward; and probably would have done well. Leadership would have been important too.

Still think Lloyd was good for another season and maybe even one after that. He was robbed of his chance to get his 1,000th goal

Totally agree, I still have a sour taste after that.

I think that Lloyd made the right call, considering Knights was asking him to play a role he probably wasn't suited to.

I think his body could still have gone again, so in retrospect, it was perhaps a shame we didn't see Lloyd play a deeper forward role in 2010- especially when seen in the light of Neagle's complete failure to pull his career out of the fire in Lloyd's absence. But Lloyd was never going to be great at the neither here-nor-there role Knights wanted him to perform.

I have no doubt Knights pushed him out the door by stealth, in the manner in which he did this.

On the other hand, Lucas' body was clearly shot by 2009- in retrospect, he was probably virtually shot by the end of 2008.

Fletcher is just a marvel.

Lloyd could of played longer obviously but good old Fletch is still going!

nah..he was gone and admitted it so not long after finishing.

Once that pace off the mark went he was finished.

Sad but true. Miss the champ..

Did you see Lloyd's last 3/4 games - Couldn't get near the ball.

He was being played in a no-mans land sort of position which he clearly wasn't suited to though, because Knights was committed to playing Neagle at FF and Hurley CHF.

You're right, he was struggling no doubt. He still would have done a lot better than Neagle did in 2010, though.

He played in a role in which he performed admirably in 2008/2009.

He would've needed 2-3 seasons at the rate he was going by then.
He was a crock. The day Matthew Warnock was out-jumping and out-running him... you're done.
Neagle being the other choice, I'd take a Lloyd that can't run thanks.
