I think that's his name-anyway I'm talking about the new (Aussie)head of the ICC who wants 4 day Test matches-I've gotta say I'm not against progress but the question has to be asked WHY?

yes....I thought that at first as well

but they are talking about playing longer days too

ie a test is 30 hours of play...played over 4 days is 7.5 hours per day or 3*2.5 sessions.

So you would still play the same amount of time.

It would make it easier to align 1st class and junior cricket with test cricket. Playing 4 day Shield games is possible but 5 is a stretch if the players also work.

can you imagine playing for 7 1/2 hour days in India. Player would be dropping like flies.
