Judd will know when to go and I think Mick will give him that courtesy.

Mick's comments in relation to Judd in the past have been nothing but complimentary and he considers him a great of the game. He was asked a question and gave an answer, in part expressing his opinion as to when all players should retire, not specifically Judd.

All comes down to interpretation really. Are people looking for something deeper in the comments or do we take them at face value.

TBH given that it's Mick I would tend toward face value.

I watched the entire 13 plus minutes, which I have to say was quite onerous. Mick has a repetitive, oblique style at times.

Why not just say leave it entirely to Juddy to make the right decision and leave it at that. Even if Judd plays 10 games next season at least you know he gives everything.

Watch the presser and you'll see that's exactly what he said. He also said the same after the match last week.

I would guess Judd may have already made up his mind and Malthouse knows what that decision is.

Is Judd playing so well on his return because he knows he's finishing up and putting every last ounce of what he has left in his last remaining games? If that's the case he's going out whilst on top as Malthouse is alluding to.

If Judd was to continue, he'd be already having discussions to the medicos, coaches, his wife and list management and manager... he'll be aware he wont get the money from us that he once did but he'll do the team thing for the club, himself and hist family... whatever decision Judd makes will be the right one and wont be because of Malthouse or the media.

Just a shame that he's not a very inspiring speaker in my opinion, and I find his grumpiness more arrogant and rude than endearing.
You don't have to be inspiring when talking to journos though. And he wasn't grumpy yesterday because journos actually asked him questions and didn't just throw random statements at him.

My thoughts are that Mick knows that Juddy is a competitive beast and does not like being told that he can't do something and likes to prove people wrong.

By Mick making the statement I am hoping he is in his own way firing Juddy up to go round again to prove to MM and the football world that he still has it.

Not sure how Anthony's body is holding up as he has missed games this year but his form is very good.

Not saying it's going to happen but he's still only 26 and if he's got his head together........he'd make for a handy back up whilst Giles develops.

Do we need back up THAT badly?

Slightly insensitive in the way some might interpret it, but anyone who's listened to Malthouse knows he is unashamedly honest and open in his opinions. I for one don't believe it was a veiled jab at Judd, it was merely a case of Malthouse airing his opinion on retiring players in general.
Agreed and I think people on here a little too sensitive. You really think Judd would go home and cry on Rebecca's arm over this and retire due to it? Cmon guys. It wasn't meant as a direct comment at him, it was just a segway of thought into retiring at general and you could see MM was in one of those moods where he was upbeat and just wanted to be open and honest. If Judd even bothered to watch this interview (because I am sure he didn't) he would know as well as MM does that Judd is a master of his own destiny and the only person who is going to make that decision is Judd.

Speaking of retiring though, is Carrazzo close? I saw he got dropped this week, either that or he's got an injury of sorts. If he did get dropped im interested to know as to why.

Looks like that word of the day calendar is paying off. You must be up to letter "O". Looking forward to what your "P" brings (da-dum-tshh)

Just playing devils advocate here, but some have suggested Judd if he goes on next year would command/demand (either /or) 500k next year. So is that good value for money? leadership is second to none i feel, but performance based, i just cant see how this is a "good" deal for both Judd and Carlton. Judd if he goes on next surely with possible injuries that unfold no more than 350k would be on the mark?

Worth every cent. Had a very interrupted season and remains a very dangerous player, even if plonked forward or running off half back Scotland style

I had heard he's a Grade A knob. Has anyone heard different?
