Personally I think the line for mandates is do you care for vulnerable people, if so then yes its a fair requirement

eg work in an aged care home, hospital, special needs school etc fair

Yep that's pretty much the line for me as well.

Instead of mandates for the rest (to get vaccine numbers up) I personally support vaccine incentives.

Something like: Get vaccinated before (time X) and you get a one off $2,000.00 payment from Centrelink (for those on benefits) or a tax cut of 2 percent off your earned income in F/Y 21/22 (for those on a salary).

The money also acts as a financial stimulus as well for the economy.

Firstly, SARS-Cov-2 is the virus, Covid-19 is the disease it causes.

Our offsite office Christmas party for our 100% vaccinated workforce now switched to:
- on-site, outdoors
- QR code check-in
- stay 1.5m apart
- masks except when eating and drinking

For what reason are they against the Covid vaccines? That's the crux of it.

My fall back stance is to avoid all medication unless it is distinctly needed.

Long story which I have posted elsewhere on BF, I will attempt to truncate it- I was on multiple medications for many years ie. gout, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma puffers.... I decided after researching and taking charge of my own health to eventually gradually go off all medication without telling my GP, continued to get regular blood tests/BP readings etc. after a year or so I told my GP and he was gobsmacked. Nothing had changed, I was feeling fantastic and now a couple of years later everything is great, I take zero medication, however I did get the Flu vaccine due to it being required to visit my Aunt who was recently admitted to an aged care home.

I am not anti the medical industry, also posted this previously, I was diagnosed with cancer mid 2019 and was initially hesitant to get treatment but after some open dialogue with a great oncologist I decided to consent to 8 weeks of Chemo and Radiation, it worked, cancer is gone.

I have taken the Astrazenica vaccine reluctantly, mainly because of family pressure and it not being a hill I wanted to die on.

My view has been we should have thrown massive financial and societal support at the vulnerable ie. the elderly and those with comorbidities, and let children and adults in reasonable health who are at miniscule risk from Covid get on with their lives as per normal.... wear a mask if you want, social distance if you want, isolate if you want, no mandates.

Nothing is perfect.

You need to understand that is how modding works. It is not perfect.

There's usually a hard line for any rule - e.g. "Vaccines don't work" or "Vaccines cause more damage than Covid".

Then outside of that there might be a fuzzy area where someone is allowed to have a go with a line of argument, and it either survives or doesn't.

Where I see someone stepping over the hard line they usually get an infraction. If not, a caution that this is not acceptable. Infractions later if they don't let it go.

Where we let it run, that's fine. When we see that an argument just leads to the hard line and never anywhere else, it will be seen as settled and cease to be acceptable. Sometimes it comes up in the future and it can be pointed out to the user, but if you were here when it was discussed and rejected, you'll likely get some sort of card or further caution depending on various things.

So you will be given plenty of warning and some leeway at first. But if you push it, then it's infractions or thread ban.

I understand how modding works. I have been a mod on another forum.

Discussion of vaccinations should not be something that needs rules at all. Rules around abuse etc. fine but no opinions around discussions of health should be off limits. As someone posted earlier if you can't question it, it's not science it's propaganda.

With respect to anti-vaxxers, why not let them post their views? If their views are non scientific then others will be able to debate, debunk or dismiss so no harm done. Your argument that it's dangerous misinformation can't be true because if it's misinformation it will easily be debunked and therefore not dangerous.

Also, hasn't everyone on here got a mind of their own? We are all capable of sifting through the various arguments and making up our own minds.

The very nature of a discussion forum is opposing views, to shut down certain views because you don't agree with them is counter productive and the debate, debunk or dismiss process is eliminated so there is no way to advance our collective knowledge.
