LOL you kind of answered the question yourself

1. Carlton need that player you want murphy to be at Saints even more than the saints do
2. Why would St Kilda offer Murphy a long term deal on big money ?
3. Murphy imo couldnt hold a candle to Hodge as a leader and is almost an introvert , Carlton supporters are always saying how Simmo would have been a better leader.

4. If Murphy was playing for another team would you want Carlton to offer him a long term deal on big coin ?

Murphy would only suit a team like the Hawks,Cats,Tigers,Eagles,Pies but none of these teams would give him more than $400k due to other players being more priority.

Murphy will stay at the Blues and he will earn the most there and Carlton need him more than any team for being a mature body as well as Culture

Don’t under value Murphy’s contributions over the years to the CFC. Luke Hodge been outstanding leader and yes has good CV 4 Premierships, 2 Norm Smith Medals.

Not all great leaders have premiership medals, surely you can say Matthew Richardson was great to RFC, Pavlich was great to Fremantle, Buckley was a great leader for Collingwood neither mentioned had premiership medals but all did a valued service. All I’m doing is exploring all avenues. If you did read what Damian Barrett wrote, sounds like a big plan by Blues and AFL, but maybe at times we read too much into things and come to rediculous conclusions.

Yes I would love Marc Murphy to stay a Blue, as this phase in our cycle we are in desperate need of senior voices and leadership and high draft picks will be lost on the field and not have a real development unless there is proper guidance on the field, at training, in the locker rooms, etc

This is pretty much a given that he stays really , No club will offer enough for him to allow carlton to let him leave as a free agent as he wouldnt attract a decent compo pick so why let him leave with the need for mature quality players.

Just doesnt make sense for Carlton to let him go even if Murphy wanted to leave

You're a team crying out for senior voices to guide the "kids".

You're a team that then considers letting your best senior voice AND CAPTAIN go for yet another high draft pick to be lost in the pool of kids.

You're a team that has faulty thinking!

Hahaha wow, rich coming from a Crows supporter..

Maybe he should lead like Tex... yeah that worked well

I reckon they need a visit from Collective Mind to set them straight.

Be a risk for contending clubs taking a guy with injury history etc. brett deledio comes to mind

He didn’t actually say that he wanted to stay though.

It was all about the tense. He said he wanted to get back from injury and concentrate on leading the club.

Success.

You wouldn't know about that.
Maybe he cares about money? Maybe he really enjoys playing at Carlton and wants to retire there? This isn't like the NBA where you can just latch on to a top team and have a strong knowledge that the team you are joining will be a contender. Bryce Gibbs was probably thinking that 6 months ago.

The AFL is such a volatile league in regards to teams that are on top and teams which bottom out.

Exactly, I admire him for his loyalty. But you play sports to win. I wouldn't knock him for trying his luck elsewhere.

Shaun has been durable more than Murphy.
Sure has, but when he was leaving Port people were lining up to say that his knee was cactus and that he’d struggle to get through another contract.

SB is certainly 1 out of the box not only for getting over his injuries but playing at such a high standard for so long, For every SB there are 10 that dont get there. Hope he plays another couple of years

Yep, how did that turn out for Brett? Now stuck up in Sydney banged up yet again whilst the club he should have stayed at continues to rack up wins.

Isn't the lament coming out of Carlton that they are young and need more senior leadership. You don't let your best senior player walk out for yet another draft pick that may be no higher than 19 anyway. How much leadership would they have if Murphy goes? Hats off to him for staying the course.
