I say it would have had something to do with the rumour from last year about Carey.

I can't blame Murphy for what he did, I would have kicked Carlise in the head while running past.

Saints players got together and decided that they went too far.

Murphy has nothing to apologise for in my opinion.

If Saints players were sledging him about his wife he had every right to tee-off.


Aaron James, former Collingwood and Richmond player was deregistered due to striking a spectator a few years back.

That spectator sledged him about his wife losing a baby. He deserved to be punched in the mouth.


If Saints players decided that Murphy's personal life was a topic that they thought they could needle him about it's a bit rich that they then get upset when he calls someone a weak prick for rolling around on the ground.

The worst part about this is cleaaaarly Murphy just wants it to go away because not many people would have known about this rumour... I know I sure didn't. But the media has just placed it on every page/show/radio/blog etc and blown it up huge and the only person it is having a real negative affect on is Murphy.

If the media could get off their high horse where they are pretending to protect murphy and actually look at how they are doing a million times more damage to him than any sledge could do, this situation would be over.

Media wants the clicks and the ad revenue.

They will milk this for every cent this week, then move on to next weeks thing.

Reasonable post but it's not just murph who's copping it. It's his wife and family too. Imagine living in Melbourne where a massive proportion of the population knows of you and thinks you cheat on your spouse... Whether it's true or not that's gotta be awful for her.

Coward is talking serious smack on a footy field with 6 umpires, multiple cameras and thousands of witnesses, pretty easy to mouth off when you know the worst you'll cop is a couple jumper punches.

He didn't have to react like that at all, that's the point.

Now he's obviously upset that his wife has once again become a talking point, and it was his own silly stunt that put it back in the spotlight.

Maybe he shouldn't be getting in sledging matches... Might be harder now that everybody knows how to get a reaction from him.
