my mind is slowly getting made up

(ill use federal descrptions though)

HoR - Labour
Senate - 1. AbortSA
2. Democrats
insert all but
5th last - Labour
4th last - Liberals
3rd last - Greens
2nd last - Family First
last - Save RAH

now, Greens are probably the party that is closest to my ideologies (unless there is actually a communist party out there), that policy will not work at State level and would probably not work on a federal level (would work on a global scale though)

I dont want major parties monopolising both houses, so I vote for minor parties and independants at senate level

but my HOR voting will always be the same
if finances are terrible - liberal (will be a shit term, but we at least make $ for labour to spend)
if finances are ok - labour

There is a Communist Party - I know they have a candidate in Lee, and I presume some upper house candidates.

I know you were using the Federal names for the houses of Parliament but here's the SA ones:

Lower House - House of Assembly
Upper House - Legislative Council

There is actually. Bob Briton is the only candidate though and is running in Lee, a safe Labor seat. I interviewed him for my radio show and he seemed very professional and articulate, though I'd never vote for the party.
edit;

Nah, no one in the upper house. This is the first time they've had anyone running in any election here since the 2000 federal election.

:( I was looking forward to voting for them

I would like on election day if they had someone handing out the political spectrum with where each parties ideologies sit, so I can work my way from left to right when voting

Labour? Labor

AbortSA. Classy

And as for your reasons. Fantasic.
I admire the post for it's sheer bizzareness. It's like a political buffet and none of the courses match up with each other. Ideology closest to Greens, democrats 2nd preference and then Abort SA and Family First thrown in. :D

Communism is cool, especially if you are into slave Labor. I used to be a Labor supporter but its finally dawned on me the Labor party is as incompetent and corrupt as the Libs, if not more so.

Those people that go to party rallies and actually believe what their party says must be close to the most gullible people on the face of the planet, probably marginally behind your average religious person.

I think this does happen. I know the Communist Party want people in their street team to do this, though this will be my first time voting so I dunno what to expect.

Those handing out how to vote cards can pretty much only say 'how to vote card' or which party they're from.

kinds shows how low Labor are prepared to go doesn't it.

Is it just me or do Mike Rann and John Howard get more similar every passing day.

Some of those scare ads are about as mindless and insulting as "we will decide who comes into this country and the terms under which they come"

I fail to see how anyone with vaugely liberal and leftist values could stomach voting for Rann

the worst ads are these snippets of Isobel in ads that are really meaningless in the context they are given.

Suprised no one's mentioned the 50 50 newspoll this morning. Always nice to see an arrogant incumbent on the hop.

At this point in the campaign in purely political terms you'd have to say the libs are winning. Some of the egos in the ALP such as Kout, Atko and Foley are having distinct trouble staying on message.

Also as a side note, if a party wanted to sweep Norwood, Bragg, Morialta and Hartley at this point all they'd have to do is pledge to cancel or at least move this ****ing car race!

If you apply for a postal vote they'll send you a ballot, you don't have to return the ballot, because your marked off the roll when your application is processed by the ECSA.

Frustrating election. Struggling to find anyone to vote for in the lower house. Infact, going to be difficult to justify voting one way or another given the preference will flow down anyway.

There's great satisfaction to be had writing rude words on the ballot.

Alas I'm resigned to voting against things rather than for things or people.

Care to share your electorAte st?

There is also great satisfaction when counting votes at the end of the day and finding papers with funny things written on them.

Most common thing I see is when people draw their own box, write 'me' next to it and put a 1 in the box and number the rest correctly, thinking they have done an informal vote. However because the paper clearly shows their intent and order of preference the vote still counts lol.

Enfield btw Jo.

John Rau is actually amongst my favourite members of parliament.

But for the fact he was never an industrial officer with the SDA and therefore doesn't have the appropriate factional connections with Farrell he'd make the best possible option for A-G in a Labor government.

Having said that, save for a scenario where every ALP factional warlord departs his career at the moment is restricted to sitting on the backbench the rest of his career.

Whatever you do with your vote, in Enfield you can rest assured odds are it won't make a difference.

Dont confuse cant be arsed with 'dont like either option'.

Quite.

It's one of the strong arguments for optional preferential voting a la Queensland. There should be a point where I can vote validly but have my vote stop being counted before it eventually treackled down to someone I fundamentally disrespect.

But I'm not voting for Rann.......I'm voting for Vini Ciccarcelo (or whatever the hell her name is)

And I do love literal interpretations of the Westminster system:thumbsu:

Having said that, I dare say if nailed down Vini would admit that she intends to form a Labor government with Mike Rann as its head of government.

Also, as a lifelong resident of Norwood the notion of Vini representing Norwood is ludicrous. If ever in need of a good laugh check out her record of speeches in the House of Assembly.

She has two praising the Crows after premierships (which admittedly I'm in favour of), one favouring the Redlegs after a premiership (which I'm against), one praising the 36ers after a Premiership and one on a vaugely political issue. (I should note that this was the record she took into the 2006 election, having said that I haven't noticed any increase in activity.) She is by far one of the biggest jokes of a local member there is and she gets in by relying heavily on goodwill in the Italian community, older residents who remember Dunstan's glory days as member for Norwood and those who are swayed by Norwood's more powerful resident (Mike Rann) which will prove more of a negative this time i'm guessing.

If it were as you were claiming that you were voting for Vini instead of Rann then i'd suggest that she's neither the left nor right candidate but in fact the nothing candidate.
