Blake has turned from a pathetic unco waste of space into a pretty respectable big man.
Today he did a few great things around the ground as well as holding his own in the ruck.
Pack your bags Steven King.

**** oath, Steven King better start doing something special... How much are we paying him? Could be spending the $$ on younger player development...

Couldn't agree more. Barring injury, I can't see how King will get his spot back in the side. Blake's looking more and more confident out there now. If I had one criticism it'd be that his hitouts seem to find the opposition a lot more than teammates, but everything else he's doing is first class. I think he's had more kicks this season than he did for the last two. Sure sign the guy's comfortable out there.

It'd be a terrible thing if loyalty to Steven King were allowed to interrupt Blake's development - he's been growing and growing in the gaps between the (short) periods of King's fitness. He deserves to be considered first these days. It's sad for Kingy - he's had a shocking run - but team success has to come first.

Haha, tell us what you really feel...

Couldn't agree more though. To borrow a phrase from Spud Frawley, Blake was "absolutely sensational." He more than held his own against a premier ruckman in Jeff White and around the ground he found quite a bit of the pill and used it effectively. Definitely his best game for the club.
On today's effort, Blake has to stay in the team. Give King another spell in the VFL and really make him earn back his spot in the seniors.

Is it just me or has Blakey become something of a cult figure among Geelong fans? Everytime he gets the ball, the crowd can't help but cheer and shout his name. If he ever manages to kick a sausage roll from open play, I'd wager the Geelong faithful will go nuts.

It's almost like we got Peter Street back :p

Haha! yeah, im one of those people to get excited.. its just soo funny seeing this big lumbering man run around ducking and weaving, and then after all that press about him not kicking, slam it on the boot, its awesome :-D not to mention how unco he looks when he kicks, its just sooo funny!!:) :thumbsu:

Brilliant game from Blake, put Ottens and White (not to mention Jamar and the other Melbourne no-name) to shame. They paid him no respect, and he punished them for it with some... uh... "dash" through the middle. Best game I've seen from him by far.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when he was breaking packs, and then kicking it, and then hitting a target - I lept from my seat (at home) when it looked like he could have kicked a goal. He has really come on this season, his confidence is improving and when he backs himself he is not doing too bad. Great story.

Watching Blake is the funniest thing ever. He's getting really good, hardly messes it up yet I always piss myself laughing at whatever he does.

My brother and I were all high fives after he split the pack and hit Mackie in the fifty! :p

And how about his bounce on the wing??!!:thumbsu:

It took ages to get back up into his hands but it worked perfectly!! It's great to see him getting confidence to back himself kicking it!

Top game from the big guy, easily his best at senior level, and coming on the back of a solid performance last week he's suddenly looking pretty good.

It's going to create a selection dilemma for sure, can't see King being left in the reserves yet Blake certainly deserves to retain his spot, and there's not much chance of them both playing, especially now that Ottens is doing a lot of work on the ball.
