BREAKING SUPERCOACH NEWS

Mark Blicavs will have his position updated, and is now available as a MID/RUCK. Thanks to Al Patton for that information.

Is he a viable R2 option though? How many games is he expected to start? you'd assume he'd be taken out of the 22 once McIntosh is fit again.

Don't Geelong have like 7 rucks?

McIntosh, Vardy, Simpson, West and even Dirty Bathie? Thats lots of competition.

I would be surprised if he played more than 2 or 3 games this year. For all the song and dance about his pre-season so far (dont get me wrong, its impressive for a B rookie), lets not forget that he is a 5th string ruckman who is only getting game time because 4 other ruckmen are injured.

Once any of Hmac, West or Vardy are fit it'll be bye bye Blitzy.

Yeh good points, still someone that you could start with for the first handful of games during the season, drop Cox into the forward line and then with dpp swing Cox back to the rucks when Blicavs' is done. Means you could play Blicavs initially without relying on a forward rookie to start on the park for you initially.

Absolutely, and it's probably the worst thing that can happen now that I've thought about it. He'll have to be traded after Round 2 (fairly sure we will have at least 1 back by then and the rest will be coming shortly after) If Currie/Daw don't get a game in Round 3 then you are stuck with no cash and a rookie that needs to go and there is no other rookie to sideways trade to at the price because we probably wont see Witts or Rowe by then either! and even if Gorringe plays you might not have the extra $35K in your bank!

What do you do in Round 3 when none of them play.
I hear ya, but gut feel says be pretty stiff if that happens. Just throwing the idea out there. Some DPP RUCK/FWD options could solve that problem ;)

Similar problem. What to do when Crouch, K. Mitchell, Viney, Wines etc etc are all wearing the vest Round 3

Mitchell & Wines aren't going top be wearing the vest at the same time  What is not unlikely is that Daw/Currie wont get a game unless Goldstein breaks down. Scott has said nothing about going with 2 big guys. Rowe is so far off at Carlton he needs binoculars IMO.

Mitchell isn't even a certainty for round 1.

How many rookies do you think Port will play? Some of Wines, Mitchell, Neade, Stevenson, Colquhuon, Heath and Pittard will miss out.

Butcher and Gray will be back soon too.

Most people over on the Port forum have Mitchell down as an emergency or sub.

However this thread is about rucks. I have little faith in any of the ruck rookies at the moment. Their positions are all so precarious. Hopefully they aren't needed.

They are in a situation where they can play a big chunk of them and find out where they are at. Mitchell is teetering in my team. I think he will play I just don't think his output will be worthwhile. I have the money to go to Kobe and I think I might if his ribs are OK. Wines is definite, Stevenson and Pittard seem close to guaranteed. Neade will always be a week by week proposition IMO.

Good news I don't think any other ruck rookies apart from Majak Daw might get a go. Currie is risky as Daw and petrie can back up. Witts is shit same with Rowe neither will play much. Now Ben Hudson is on senior list Witts has no hope unless injury occurs.

Exactly. True. Although...

Blicavs finished with 118 Supercoach points vs Magpies on Friday from 73% game time.

Lock him in.
Yup.

Plus becomes the perfect R4 candidate for C loophole throughout the season once pushed aside by the Cats

CS: "I'm not one for massive statements, but to answer the question, 'What's his running power like?' there's never been a 198cm AFL footballer who can run like him," Scott said.

"If he doesn't play in the ruck, we're confident he can play in different positions."

Lock?

Do you reckon Blicavs will value almost 300k by the time Mac, West etc come back in.

When will Leuenberger return?

No I don't think so. Right now, West is apparently still in contention for round 1 and then Hmac for round 2 so will be hard seing Blicavs staying in the side while these 2 are there unless something else happens. Vardy should also be available in the first month so I think he would be a couple gamer while you wait to see Leuenburger, Sandilands or Nick Nat options become available.
