Surely he won't play on Friday?

A week at training at least before he should play.

Because of all the poor performing SA players he'll surely play. I think he's definitely in their best 12-Maybe play him as Super-Sub?

And so he should have been. But it was outside the team environment due to terrible discipline. If he is brought striaght back I think ti sends a bad message to those who have done the right things
The right things?

What lost twice to NSW?

The best side available needs to picked. And he's apart of the Best XI in both the ING Cup and the Pura Cup. We can't afford to be picking guys like Borgas and Adcock ahead of Cosgrove who's younger and more talented.

What? He has done his penance, he is back at an acceptable level and your team failed in its last couple of games, but you want some bull******** reason to keep him out?

We lost the ING game in the last over to a full strenght NSW side.

Cossie nomrally opens. I guess we drop Elliot then??

I just have high standards for team play and think one more match off will not be the worse thing that can happen to Cossie (whom I think is a super cricketer when his mind is on the job)

well done Cossie. Hopefully he doesn't think he's done all the hard work now. He's gotta keep losing more weight. He may have got down to an acceptable level but if he wants his career to go any further than the redbacks he's got to keep working hard. I'm sure everyone will watch with interest to see what shape he turns up in in a years time after another winter playing in England.
Hopefully this is the wakeup call he needs and he will be all good from now on.

Posted this from the SA V QLD game thread:

My man Cosgrove is putting on a show. 51* off 64 balls, 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Take that SA selectors. The man may be overweight, but is one heck of a batsman. A future Australian batsman for sure :thumbsu:

The fat man takes a leaf from his mentors book with 100 off 97 balls, 6x4 and 5x6

The man has incredible talent, that's why I was furious when our idiotic coach Phillips decided to suspend him for a month.

Next summer, he will be an Australian contracted player.

He deserved to be suspended, the lardass needed a kick up his wide, wide posterior that his attitude was not acceptable.

Never heard of him.
Are you serious?

Is he new, young?
21 years old, been around for a few seasons now.

Who hasnt rated him?
It's not that he hasn't been 'rated', people have just giving him a serve about his weight issues. But as you see, the man can still bat regardless.

Yeah sorry mate I've never really heard of him. Didnt pay much attention to domestic cricket last year so i dont really know any of the new-comers but he sounds like one to watch, is he a fatass though? Boof Jr?

Nah not a problem mate. This may be interesting for you:

"The South Australian Cricket Association's high performance committee has suspended the playing contract of Mark Cosgrove due to the unsatisfactory state of his fitness and physical condition. After reviewing fitness test results, the committee found that the 21-year-old batsman has failed to present himself fit and in first-class physical condition to play at the best of his ability - a requirement within his contract."

Interesting read there.

Can see where all the calls have come from and its probably something he will have to live with if he does become a first-class player.
Sounds like he has a bit of talent though and at 21 has got along way ahead of him so im sure it wouldnt be hard to burn a few kilos :)

Who were the 'doubters'?

The way I see it, he's an obvious talent who was justifiably suspended for lack of personal discipline. He met the targets that were set for him and therefore earnt his way back into the squad.

I don't think anyone ever doubted his talent. His suspension might just have been the best thing for him in terms of his future.

If it wasnt for that "idiotic coach Phillips", then Cosgrove would not have played the Innings he did tonight. He needed the kick up the arse he got and duly responded the way any one who was embarassed the way he was, should have.

Very few top class players dont get their without a decent kick in the backside. One of the reasons someone like Clarke should be told to go back make some runs and force his way into test cricket again. Much like Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting, Langer, Martyn etc.

Cosgrove needed it, and hopefully is better for it.
