Mark Johnson has laid a claim to FFC for compensation over an injured shoulder.

Mark we got you to 200, then you retired and went on your merry way, had you stayed around and helped with the rookies you might have had my sympathies, but you were a wasted pick and you don't deserve a cent.

Why not freaking well claim against Essendon where he played most of his games? Surely if you've suffered a career full of knocks, niggles and tears, wouldn't it make more sense that it happened over a period of time? FFS.

Fair enough. $20-30k, sounds like there are plenty of precedents. Why would we fight over it?

Non-issue.

It's a great reason not to recycle any delisted players. Way to go, what a ****ed up situation that a club can be sued for extending a hand of employment to a washed up player that nobody wanted.

I've never understood the people who claimed Johnson was worth it for his "experience" or "training presence" or his 1 good tackle per game or whatever ... he was a complete waste of space as far as I'm concerned.

His claim is his career was finished by a shoulder injury sustained at Fremantle? Yeah, good one ...

I heard one theory that he was being groomed into an assistant coaches role!

Don't think he has a case at all, but should be interesting. This club never learns!

Give the guy a break. He has a couple of cafes to support. Times are hard. Cough up you buggers!!!! ;)

Exactly thecotch.... One of the reasons he gave when retiring was that his cafes in melbourne were suffering a bit.

Me thinks the financial crisis may be hurting Johnsons cafes.

He may have a hard time though, as the article reckons it's unclear where he actually injured this shoulder as he never missed a game in the purple from a SHOULDER injury. Knee injury yes, dropped yes and suspension yes. Hope the club fights it.

Surely the main reason he was recruited was to get a mate to 200 games. He's just putting the question to Harvey again.

A player has up to two years to make a claim once he has been medically examined and it is determined, first, that the injury will prevent him from playing football at any level again, second, has occurred in the course of his employment as an AFL footballer and, third, that the injury was not the fault of the player's negligence or the consequence of a pre-existing condition.

Sounds like he'll be pushing shit up hill really.

According to the AFL collective bargaining agreement, a career-ending injury suffered in the final year of a contract enables a player to claim a further 50 per cent of the base amount of his contract to offset the sudden and unexpected finish to his time in the game at every level.

Surely there's no way Johnson can claim this shoulder injury - which we saw no sign of during his final games - was a career ending injury.

He's lucky his career hadn't ended a year earlier anyway. Nice of him to show his gratitude like this.

Disgraceful way to treat the club and Harvey after the way he was looked after.

Do the right thing Johnno and don't be such a low-life prick.
