They just stated on 3AW that Essendon would be offering Mark Williams a 5 year deal....

Any thoughts? Would have thought that after Pagan and Wallace that the days of the long term contract were over?

Two chances of Williams leaving Port.... Buckleys and none. Remember how he reacted when Nick Stevens left?

The board must like him. He is a very good coach and can rebuild a list in 2 years unlike most other clubs with take 3-4 years to rebuild.

I doubt it

As far as i know Essendon have a rule that states that NO ONE is given a 5 year contract.

Williams won't leave anyway, but as for the report i think it would be BS.

It is being reported on 3aw this evening, I would be very happy if we managed to nab choco..... :thumbsu:

There is as much chance of Williams coaching Essendon as I have of getting the Essendon job.

Absolutely zero.

Your spot on

Essendon should wake up and realise instead of wasting their time trying to get someone who they have no chance in hell at, while other clubs appoint all the best candidates.

For the record, I also believe Sheedy is the only guy who should be coaching Essendon....

Williams loves Port, We all love him, his family is heavily associated with Port, his mother, father etc. He has no reason to move.

So I suppose you know about the release clause in Choccos' contract then?

Do you honestly think Ess would waste their time if they knew they had no chance?

I'd love it if he came to Windy Hill, but this is probably a smokescreen. I can't see him leaving Port or the Bombers offering 5 years.
Think youre right ryder - previous mcphee - love your new photo.

Choco has been able to do amazing things with the indigenious players and seeing as dempsey, ryder, lovett, nlm, dick, chartres, davey and maybe others like rioli are in the equation he could be the difference. Will be happy to see the new generation next year and how good we are and how far we can be pushed whether it be from choco, harvs, mckenna, bomber, bondy or even vossy (now that teh shit jobs are out of the way(carlton) he may re-enter).

Essendon wouldnt be doing their job if they didnt atleast ask Thompson and Williams.

Doesnt mean they will get them....

However I gotta admit, Thompson never sounded convincing to me....

Choco just loves playing with the media, he enjoys it.

I don't think he will leave Port. I would love to see Hardwick come home. Wouldn't that upset a few dawk supporters. :D

The board has to look at the best available coaches, Mark Williams certainly is amongst the best availble.

Im not sure about the release clause in his contract, i believe that there is one but im not sure about what would trigger it.

Chances are niether him or Thompson will leave there respective clubs, but i would rather have a serious go and these two than going head first into a Neale Danihier.

Do you know about the out clause ?

Port wouldn't be doing their job if they could have a coach sign a contract 6 months ago and have him walk out of it.......

A week or 2 ago when it was first rumoured Essendon were keen and were going to talk to Thompson and Port, choco came out and said he was going nowhere, and Port came out and said they had a watertight contract.

Of course if Choco suddenly was to say I dont want to coach here anymore it would be silly to force him to coach against his will.....

No problems with Essendon thinking about it, I just hope they respect the fact hes currently involved in coaching a side that will be playing finals and hence they should give him space. That being said I doubt that he is entertaining any offer.
