I'm making this thread as a contribution to the anti-snarking measures that our highly paid Bigfooty owner wants to introduce into the forums.

In order to reduce the number of snarkers ( I consider myself to be small-fry in the snarking game) , I plan to post only to this thread.

The media and the people commenting on Collingwood are aspects that interests me at the moment. I would welcome any comment to anything that I write and you can put your two-cents in as well. You can expect some snarking if the mood gets to me. Chances are everyone will ignore me and I'll fade away into cyber space.

For my first post, I just watched the "Damien-Lloyd washup of Collingwood" on the AFL site. I was laughing at Damo's comments. At least half a dozen times, he tried to sink the boot into Collingwood and Lloyd walked away from supporting him.

Sometime in the past, Eddie must have bullied Damo something savage. You could see the clark kent glasses twitching as he told us that Collingwood just wasnt up to scratch. He even tried to make Eddie look foolish by ridiculing his barracking at the Eagles game. Much to his credit, Lloyd completely dismissed Damo and said that Eddie was fantastic for the game. I must admit that my opinion of Lloyd has gone up in recent weeks (he did the right thing when he needlessly dumped on a passionate magpies fan)

On the other hand, Damo goes from bad to worse. Something should tell him that he gets a gig on the AFL site as a peddler of rumours etc. He's not there for analysis. He knows a lot about sliming around but very little about the game of football.

In hot news, the AFL site has just done a season review of the Pies. Do you ever get the feeling that these guys are getting paid for stringing together a few hundred words around a format that someone invented 10 years ago.

I read the article and I felt that I could have wasted my life doing something a lot more entertaining. If the article was a colour it would be beige. As the local cop says, move along lad, there's nothing happening here.

The Teddy Whitten game is on tv......it's going to be a slow slow weekend...

Dont put too many restrictions in place. The Bucks megathread will need you, especially in your unparalleled role of reviving it when things slow down and posters actually start to think that Bucks might be going OK.

well thank you for your kind thoughts. I put it down to the fact that I've always hated buckley, probably more than the average magpie fan who usually complains about things in this forum. When things are going badly for that thread (such as when we're winning) I've always been able to draw upon that huge well of bucks-loathing. Alas, it has taken a lot out of me over the last couple of years. It was particularly difficult early in 2014 and 2015 when we were winning and things appeared to be going well. The lack of support for the thread at those times was understandable because Pie supporters in the forum have always been so optimistic and trusting and wanting so bad to believe in bucks. I must admit that I felt that too at times and it was difficult to continue to post the truth about bucks.... that he was a hopeless coach.

The problem, of course, is to try to reframe the buckley-sacking quest in different ways to keep the interest up and to gather more supporters. The BF forum has always been an environment for new ideas where people can put forward their views in ways that have never been thought of before.... I must admit there are times when I read stuff here on a daily basis and think to myself ..."self, I have never heard anyone express that view before"...

But that's all in the past. I'm confident that there is enough leadership in the forum to continue our work to get rid of bucks, even if there are false good times next year. Of course, I'll be doing my bit here, posting media stories from buckley haters in the media who will never give up the fight. I'm confident that we will achieve what we've set out to do....

Actually, I thought about that about 5 minutes after I posted. There was a huge sense of relief because the grass in the garden is getting about calf height at the moment and I had this terrible feeling that I'd have to mow it....

This is the magic of having my own personal thread. I put my name in the title for two reasons:

1. self promotion - I intend to get a writing gig with some place in the media and I want to use it as a CV. I don't think anyone has ever thought of using BF in such a manner....

2. Because my name is on it, people who don't like to read what I'm writing can stay clear. If I want to refer to buckley-haters, I can use the phrase "buckley-haters". As a card-carrying member of the buckley-hating fraternity, I draw strength every time I type it. I feel the kinship with fellow buckley-haters who have been long time detractors and things similar of buckley since his early jam making days...

I can understand your aversion but we live in times of extremes. There is good and there is evil. There is god and there are those trying to destroy the way we live, and there is love and there is hate...

I thank you for your contribution and I will keep your opinion in mind...

If you simply add "And Bucks" after Media it should do the trick.
Or maybe even "Bucks And" before Media?

On a serious note.... not sure if there is anything more serious than buckley-hating.... I was listening to my local community radio in the car two days ago and they patch into SEN. "Hungry for football" was on and there was Bartlett and his mate Patrick Smith.

Bartlett is can accept. He's fairly transparent and his agenda is pretty consistent. He played a lot of footy and I hate him intensely for that 1980 disaster. However, I respect him for the fact that he refused to return to Richmond after they sacked him and stuck with that. I like a man who sticks by his word.

Patrick Smith is another matter. Who gave him the right to write about footy or to comment on it? He is one of the reasons that I think they should be required to have licences to write about AFL. The first time I became familiar with his name, I think he was writing about Rugby Union for Rupert Murdoch. How come he oozed into AFL? Does he have any love for the game or is he obsessed with etiquette? He probably went to a private boys school. And lets no confine ourselves to just the content ..... his ability to communicate on radio is non-existent. Did he go to the david Schwarz school of media? ...ummm...err...

Anyway, I got sidetracked there. Some guy rang up and said he was a longggg term Collingwood supporter and he had always supported the Pies but NOW was time to give that all up. He said that bucks should be sacked and Eddie should be thrown out. He said that it all started to go wrong when Malthouse left....etc etc etc.... yes BF on SEN

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is it's so easy to say that you're a Collingwood supporter. I could say that I'm a Carlton supporter and then go to the Carlton board and post nasty things about John Elliot....actually real carlton supporters do that but you get my drift.

But if this guy is really a Collingwood supporter...and here's my point.... then I don't want ever to be within 10 foot of a Collingwood supporter who calls up Bartlett and Patrick Smith and rats on the club... trashes it.. In fact, compared to this guy Patrick Smith is a saint...

Well I try to incorporate hypocrisy into my writing as often as possible. I hope media outlets are reading this.

Actually I'm giving up on bucks mostly. He has worn me out. I don't think that I will be talking bout dumping him because there are only so many ways to boil an egg and he has been boiled several thousand times in that thread...

well i'm glad it haunts you. There are some people who say that it was staged for the media....which is an interesting comment on modern life in itself. I say that it is what it is and for that kid it was reality. Half the people at BF voted for Tony Abbott and this kid is from syria. Of course the other half voted for Kevin...

I dont like to trash volunteers but sometimes you have to make a few points about their performance.

I was listening to community radio in the car this morning and WA Magpies was on. I didnt hear the start of the program but there was three guys on. I thought to myself, maybe Jackie has left. Jackie is the opinionated long-term mother of the WAMagpies. Normally she has two other guys on who cower in the shadows..... if you can do that on radio. Anyway it seems that Jackie is on holiday and the "free as a bird" guys were left the rule the roost. So what did they do? They read the news from the collingwood site and then they put on a badly recorded version of Jay Clarke/ Michael Christian's last show..... I turned it off at that stage.

They did read out the collingwood VFL team and said that the game started at 10am WA time..... I cut short my shopping and got home to find out wrong...wrong...

and I heard the comment..."who coaches the vfl side mike?".....and these guys are supporters?

So if you know these people, tell them to lift their game for next year. People seem to love phoning in their opinions. Why not try that? Maybe Jackie had put the listeners off over the years.

I had a bitch about these people a year or so ago. God love em, they are not doing anything progressive to promote the Pie message in WA.

I rarely reply to Thatsgold. I am probably slightly undecided about the sincerity behind his posts, but I do tend towards believing him to be stirring the pot. In any case, I appreciate a bit of dissent and devil's advocacy, and find the forum boring when everyone is agreement.

Mark, how can there be a Collingwood Media thread without any mention of the unbiased Caro and Mark Slobbinson ?

That you have mentioned the Buckley-haters, I refer to the Slobbo article at the start of the year. All the supposed supporters who support the club but turned pretty darn quickly to blame everything on Bucks, Pert and Ed when Sloobo wrote that article about Pies players allegedly taking illicit drugs.

Turns out all those that jumped on Slobbo's bandwagon have proven to be the most fickle of all supporters, considering Slobbo has since come out and said he guessed the numbers......yes he guessed the numbers. WTF? Got the fickle ones right in and they run with the 'bad culture' blah blah. How can they not be considered anything but Buckley-haters ?
