Actually we have a win already that he has given the middle finger to the other clubs and basically said that even with very short exposure it's obvious that Collingwood is the best club in Australia
That or we offered him more money than any one else.

Nah I think it was the club. There was one interview (prior to his decision) where he said the important factors for making his decision were things such as facilities, development staff etc. He said something along the lines that since he is new to the sport these factors would be extra significant. Also if you went to the USA and had a choice would you choose for example the New York Yankees to play for or some bum f**k club that gets 6000 supporters to games. Playing at Collingwood will (already has) make him an instant celebrity

Well he's hardly going to say money..
True though May as well choose the biggest club but money talks.

In the pre-match on Fox footy it was reported we had to pay him $120,000 to sign him up.

Jon Ralph said he was a mechanical engineer at "Exxon Valdez" :drunk: Hopefully his signing isn't a disaster like that incident...

Which Pre-Match.

Well as you said we had to Match or Go Over the Job Offer he got as it would be Stupid to come overseas for Less Money.

I guess we where the only team to Match that Offer

The 'Oriental Nicety' (formerly the Exxon Valdez) was sold for scrap in 2012 & broken up in India. It was registered in Hong Kong & was carrying Ore for her last few years. I doubt he was on the vessel as an Engineer.
Maybe he worked in Valdez (Alaska) as a Mechanical Engineer?? Which has nothing to do with the vessel. :D

Good info, thanks for that.
I think he meant to say Exxon Mobil. That was my guess anyway.

Dave, it was the pre-match on Fox Footy with Sandy Roberts, Gerard Healy, etc.
Ralph reported the $120K figure.

He will become our first 'Collingwood 7 footer' :).

Nb for those keen to point out that 7 feet is actually 213.4 cm.......that's precisely the point.
As you point out 211.4 cm would be just a tad over six feet eleven.

His Twitter account is masonsixtencox. I assume that is meant to mean six feet ten.

So actually understating the size of Cox by an inch... unheard of!

222% increase.

Normal rookies wage is 54k

*someone let me know if I've got the percentage correct.... I wasn't sure which one to make the denominator.
Think you need to deduct 100% from the number so it should be a 122% increase, i.e. a bit over double the $54k rookie wage.
Alternatively you could say it was 222% of the rookie wage (100% being $54k), but not an increase of that.

In any case it looks like there was a bit of a bidding war between us, North, Freo, and Richmond, who were all reported to be interested.

Well then We must really Rate him as a Prospect if more Doubled his Wage

If true, I wonder what the other rookies think about that.....especially Martin.

Don’t think they are Fussed as they Know Mason’s Salary does not count to the Cap, Where there does

Ahhhh I see, yeah that makes sense. Cheers!
