i have been looking forward to this album for sometime now, and just saw that it has finally leaked onto torrents. Anyone else a Mastodon fan? who has downloaded it and given it a listen....if you have, what are your first impressions??

I didn't have very high hopes for it after the two very mediocre singles. But they are easily the worst songs on the album, it gets much better after that. Still no Leviathan in terms of quality, but a good album all the same: 7/10

That is probably one of my favourite Mastodon songs already though, brilliant.

i'm a big fan and quite hopeful for a tour for BDO/sideshows 2012..............

Just bought it, along with the Kasabian newie. Hopefully not a disappointment like the Opeth one last week.

Loving The Hunter at the moment. 13 tracks, and not many I don't like. Different (less epic) feel to their last couple, but not a bad change IMO.

Really like it.

Not quite as epic as Crack the Skye, but a pretty refreshing new direction for them.

I think they need to stick to concept albums though. The Hunter isn't as progressive as i hoped for.

Wasn't expecting much, as I really only like Remission and the first EP (with a couple of out of this world songs interspersed throughout their other records), but I'm very pleased with it.

The Hunter almost feels like pop-metal to me, and I only listen to a little metal. Anyone else get that feeling?

Still, it's enjoyable and pretty catchy, I'd probably give it a 6.5/10

I've only had a quick listen so far.

Wasn't a big fan of Crack the Skye(was even more disappointed when I went to the show at the palace and that was just about all they played), and this latest effort is much the same so far.

Just another band that has evolved from something that I adored(Remission) into something that's a little disappointing. Particular not a fan of the non-aggressive vocals.

It's bound to grow on me a little, but they've almost become a 'lite' version of themselves.
