What the F*** were they thinking playing Richo ?

I'm sorry, yes he is a legend, etc. But this club is going no where with him lugging around unable to make the distance from 40m out at the S.C.G.

Unfortunately the curse of Richmond's inability to put team's away unless we are 5 goals up was on show again today.

Positives ?

- Tambling , Jackson, Graham, Coughlan.

If Richo is going to be that selfish and want to play when he clearly wasn't fit, then best he not play again. It was clear when he went off we went okay. First quarter they directed to him with three or four players on him.
Glad Wallace took him off but he shouldn't have played in the first place FFS.

If someone can't break past a jog why the **** would you make them go interstate to play a full game of footy!
Rest Richo next week FFS, he needs it the poor bloke.

Tambling did very well, Jackson did great again and Gus showed us that he has a bit of versatility with accurate kicking (surprising because he only kicked 1 or 2 in Coburg up forward last year).

I don't think it's out of selfishness. He wants to play and helop us get a win. But the medical and coaching staff have to show some sense and give him a rest.

As much as I love Richo I think his time might be coming to an end.

BS, played his career best season last year and has been great again this season. Stop being influence by crap in the papers.

He is a champ and is still in our best 22 so still deserves to play on!

Again, absolute rubish.

Richon wants to play every week, he played with a broken nose and fractured cheek bone, was BOG and almost won us the game that week (vs Essendon). Richo is the kind of person that WANTS to play and is so passionate about his footy he is willing to play through any pain. It wasn't Richos fault at all, it is the blokes who selected the team who should be copping flack for naming Richo, not Richo himself!

It was Richo who couldn't run, was clearly unfit, yet he put himself up for selection.

Memo Match Committee - play 22 FIT players each week. One dilemma - who do you bring in for him? Schulz shit yesterday. Simmonds fair. Vickery and Putt need time. Hughes very good but in the Coburg seconds. Given Cousins and Cotchin likely to be ins may have to move a mid-fielder forward to KP (Tuck? Jackson?). I'd take a punt on Hughes.

I'd be angry with a Richmond player if they didn't want to play!

You think Cousins wanted to play for Coburg and not Richmond this week? The players dont select themselves.

No doubt it wasn't Richo's fault. What else do you expect a man who bleeds yellow and black to do ? Give up ?

The match committee are f***** in the head. The man was limping in the warm ups !

He's not kicking many goals and he is very replaceable on the wing. The last two weeks have been our best and Richo has barely played. I'm not saying he isn't n our best 22 but I think if he plays on next year it might dent his reputation a bit after such a brilliant 08.

If Wallace comes out and says Richo put his hand up and said he was fit, then clearly they do pick themselves.

Correct! its not just kick it to the bloke carrying on in the goal square lol :thumbsu:

LOL ! If I could see Richmond +/- points for when Richo is sitting on bench I think everyone would be shocked. Like basketball stats in football aren't everything, if only ESPN had the +/- for footy !

If that is the case then Richo needs to have a look at himself because he was nothing more than a liability today .

Richo would be filthy with himself. You can't blame him for trying.

I think we have all had niggling injuries and tried to play, sometimes you pull through okay but other times the injury gets aggravated. He must have come into the game feeling good (as seen with his first goal), but during that play or maybe in a contest after he aggravated the injury and was more restricted.

People want to blame Richo for actually wanting to play?

Why do we even have a medical staff if they just take the player's word for it all the time? Why not just let the whole list take a vote on who gets to play each week. Might as well let them handle the draft and everything else while we're at it. Who needs coaches, recruiters and all the other hangers on?

I agree and don't think he should of played however the dilema is our other options aren't and wouldn't have been suited to playing Sydney at Sydney.
Our other key forward options, Schulz and possibly Simmonds aren't renowned for their contested marking and playing them would have slaughtered their confidence even further.
Unfortunately Hughes is in career worst form !

no excuses

pitiful decision to even consider him. Idiots

its not his fault, every single player will ask to play no matter what, coaches and medical staff are there to make the right calls, this was a gumby call that probably cost us in the end. We didnt need a matchwinner there we just needed someone there to make a contest.
