Are we giving Carlton too much credit to bounce back?I thought Sullivan played well as a defensive forward. Kicked a good goal, had a hand in a couple others, held structure. And with no relief from Shooter or Hill.
He did at least as much as Elliott.
I agree we didn’t work out how to play 4 talks up forward.
West is the player who gets omitted.
Charlie Dean.
I hoped for more.
Carlton will come out firing, fueled by media and a coach who is fighting for his job. Players will be either playing for their list position or to improve their exit plans.
Think of Buckleys last game coaching against Melbourne.
No flirting with form or taking the enemy for granted this week.
I want to flog Voss all the way to Centrelink.
The infuriating negative I noticed was he kept slipping.I’m not asking this to be smart - just to be able to assess Charlie Dean’s game better.
Did he have any marks taken on him and did his man get many kicks?
They were flogged by north. That “bounce back” game was last week, didn’t go well. Are we giving Carlton too much credit to bounce back?
I think Voss has lost the players, and if true, it’s unlikely they throw him a lifeline with a huge performance.

Not the biggest sin in the grand scheme of things if that’s deans biggest issue. He’s probably never played at marvel and we know that surface plays differently… just chucking an idea out there. The infuriating negative I noticed was he kept slipping.
It’s now ingrained unfortunately. He kicks one, directly sets up another 2, top 5 for pressure acts and tackles for us and has 6 score involvements yet all that gets remembered in some pockets is the turnover in the 2nd quarter…I thought Sullivan played well as a defensive forward. We’ve managed Mihocek and Memebry before and didn’t struggle to score. Some smalls missing hurt but our depth continue to prove they’re up to the task.We will struggle to score if we leave out Membrey and Mihocek. McCeery and Schultz will still be missing and possibly Hill. That's basically our entire forward line out! Add Pendles and Sidey and I'd be looking at an upset. If tonight didn't remind you, this is a very tough competition and every week there are upsets if teams are not switched on and up for the fight. The signal sent to the team if we 'manage" four of our best players would be a terrible one.
Carlton will be as pumped up as is possible after their recent displays and the criticism heaped on them in the media and from their supporter base. I'd suggest with all of the players you want to manage out there playing next week, it will still be a slog for large portions of the match. Hopefully, we will break them down and get the four points, but I have no thoughts of a percentage booster at all. Get over the line and move on. Historically our games with them have always been a dour arm wrestle with the occasional exception.

Dude is just plugging a hole and won’t go out until others return. I don’t get the negativity.
Sullivan will retain his spot. He played a decent game, and without Schultz and McCreery, is unlikely to be dropped. Most of your posts are clueless
Sullivan has to go
Paid to be a depth player and doing just that. Perfect example that squads win flags. It’s now ingrained unfortunately. Your probably correctSullivan will retain his spot. He played a decent game, and without Schultz and McCreery, is unlikely to be dropped.
Seems logical to me to give West a go in a properly structured forward line whilst also providing us an opportunity to rotate/rest our older KPF. Say this week it's Miho, then the week following it's Membrey. It also provides us with at least some form of depth in that position should one get injured.Out: Mihocek/Membrey (managed) - Hoskin-Elliott - Sullivan
In: Maynard - Hill - Mitchell
Dean also needs more than one game, a game where the whole side was down and struggled, to be able to show what he’s able to do.I was thinking all game (watched on TV) about how we missed Frampton, and by implication, was concerned with Dean.
But it was a rowdy night at the VP estate, with some friends of friends here - all Pies fans - and lots of yelling, heads in hands, and a few minor stoushes over uneducated comments about some players. Dean being one of them.
I also saw - at the three quarter time huddle? - one of our defenders - might have been Howe? - give Dean a pat of encouragement. I like to see that, and now I think Dean stays in. We need him, and he is appreciated.
This was my reasoning too. Give him a prolonged look against less threatening opposition, and give our older blokes some restSeems logical to me to give West a go in a properly structured forward line whilst also providing us an opportunity to rotate/rest our older KPF. What does his contract have to do with it?I’m worried about Hill, that’s 2 times since signing the big mega contract he’s had to withdraw from a game with personal issues.
Poor form to be linking his PERSONAL reasons to his contract. Pull your head in.I’m worried about Hill, that’s 2 times since signing the big mega contract he’s had to withdraw from a game with personal issues.
Thankfully his employer, which is the Collingwood Football Club, doesn’t think this way.I’m worried about Hill, that’s 2 times since signing the big mega contract he’s had to withdraw from a game with personal issues.
Garbage insinuationI’m worried about Hill, that’s 2 times since signing the big mega contract he’s had to withdraw from a game with personal issues.
