Not just in the forward line but some key match-ups all over the ground.

Goodwin - Gibbs- If gibbs comes back i think Gibbs should follow him wherever he goes. Has the pace to keep up with him on a lead and can limit his influence and damge the other way in the midfield.

Burton-Jamison- Same pace and Jamison just has to make sure he can come in from the side to stop the Brett Burton leap.

Mcleod-Bannister- If Bannister comes up from his hammy i think he should just tag him and not worry about getting the ball. If Houlihan was playing i would suggest him , but he will most likely be on the sidelines for a while.

Shirley- Hadley- This bloke flies under teh radar and Hadley could shut him down and win the ball himslef.

Tippet- Thornton - can stop him and run off him

I'm pretty sure Shirley does not need shutting down. Bannister on Goody is a our best option I think, but the Crows are the ones that need to worry about the match ups and shutting people down (The champ).

Are you serious??? Put a tag on Shirley? He will be close to getting dropped this week too.

Rob Shirley is a tagger himself, we wont need to worry about him. Tyson Edwards is the player that we need to worry about through their midfield. If we keep Edwards and Thompson reasonably quiet it will go a long way to a Navy Blue victory

Shirley will be lucky to hold his spot this week

Gibbs would be a very good match up on Goody, it would be a tough ask for a second yr player, I noticed Gibbs missed today, can someone confirm the injury

IMO the crows will start Rutten of Fev and Van Berlo on Judd

Bassett may get B Fisher or even a Massie if fit

Burton is also a key match up for your blokes, who ever picks him up must have a huge engine and be very strong o/head

I am not sure if Blue supporters seen McCleod's game this week, he is in sizzling form

Even though we won yesterday our form was not good, so I expect us to be cherry ripe this week for a rare visit to the G

Fevola will be too quick for Rutten on the lead. I think there might be a bit of double and triple teaming going on after Fevs last 3 weeks!

Waite on Burton is a very good match up. Covers him in just about every area.

Looking forward to next week. Got a a good feeling. We are driving over on the Friday for the game.

Gibbs was a late withdrawal with a back spasm.

Houlihan kept Mcleod very quiet last time we played the Crows, although he is out injured. I reckon Banno will get the job on him, and he isn't one to give Mcleod space to roam behind the ball.

Matchups:
I wouldn't be putting Gibbs on Goodwin. That'd be a job for either Jamison or Bannister... probably Bannister. Gibbs is too valuable to play as a tagger and Bannister would be more effective at shutting Goodwin down anyway.

Grigg or Russell with go to McLeod. Grigg and Russell have both played that HF role in recent times and done it reasonably well.

Jamison to Burton. Jamison does very well on medium forward types.

Hadley to go to Thompson. Seems logical.

The rest will sort themselves out.

what if Macca pushes forward like this week

our forward line at some stage will have Macca, Goodwin and Burton up there at the same time

Given that you blokes do not have a strong CHF, this may enable us to double team Fev, if Rutten starts on Fev, expect Bock and Bassett to help out

Last year at the TD Waite was the key up forward against us, it restricted our flexibility in double teaming Fev, and wAITE kicked 5 from memory

I hope to see Waite down back

Well i dont think you'll have to worry about Waite playin forward this week. Hes well and truly cemented his spot in the side down back. If things arent going to plan I'd like to see him pinch hit down forward. Between Waite, Fev, and Fish we should be able to haul down a mark or 2.

Banno may not come up due to his hamstring injury. Therefore:

Waite - Burton
Jamison - Tippett
Carrazzo - Edwards
Hadley - Goodwin

The rest will sort themselves out.
One thing to keep in mind was that Adelaide only beat us by a couple of kicks last year at TD. We are playing much better atm, and are playing at the 'G.

Do we really want to take a key cog out of our midfield just when they're starting to perform so well together as a unit? If Banno doesn't come up throw Carrazzo onto Goodwin. Hadley/Judd/Stevens are forging a pretty good partnership at the minute and we shouldn't disrupt it.

As do I. Whilst the Crows haven't got the best talls up forward, the last thing I want to see is Waite moved back and forth as has been done in the past. Have to let him settle in defence.

Agree with all of that except Hadles on Goodwin. I'd give first crack to Thornton as a specialist defender and IMO Hadley has been too important in the midfield to release him from that role.

This time it's the G where we are currently burning the grass and IIRC you blokes haven't traveled so well recently.

IMO Last year counts for zero

The following players played in our win last year

Mattner, Welsh and Hydson all traded
Torney and Perrie both delisted

Burton was also out

Just interested to hear what you guys think will be the best way to stop our run from the backline. Players like Mcleod, Johncock Bock and Basset have been running the ball out and setting up play for us really well this year
