Anyone see the article on the news last night? We are getting the '97 team together for a reunion and Matt was the last to be found. He'd been working os for some time and the last address the club had for him was in England. Tracked him to the US where his job is.....wait for it....

If it's the same guy I think it is, he was a student PE teacher at my high school when I was in year 9 or 10 (can't remember).

It really showed a bad side to Crows supporters and showed how uneducated some of them were on football at the time. Not a great player but not as bad as some people carried on.

I was thinking more of the way he was treated by members of the coaching staff.

Ahh come on, the amount of times he turned the ball over in his last two seasons was ridiculous for an AFL player. He was a bit of a ball magnet but god he was frustrating, apart from the obvious heckling from the crowd how was he badly mistreated?

We have some in our team at the moment that turn the ball over a lot more than Connell ever did. I am not saying he was a great player, just felt some supporters just felt like they needed a scapegoat at the time.
