Great to see that we have two kids from our great club, Rupertswood in the under18 Vic Metro squad for the championships.

Jess also represented Vic Metro at under16 level, but Matty was still developing into the champion full forward/ half forward flanker that he is today. He junior performances for Rupertswood at u16 level were phenominal.

'Chicken' Little and JD are champion blokes, which should hopefully translate to good onfield performances in the games as well.

JD was good enough to have been playing u18 games with the Cannons when 'Chicken' was running around in the Rupertswood u16s (RDJFL) and booted 95 goals in only 15,16 or 17 games. JD has always had the skill of being a hard footballer, his father Brendan was a quality player with West Coburg and later coached West Meadows in the EDFL.

Hopefully, 'Chicken' can continue on with his good form on the flank kicking plenty of goals in the championships.

However, interesting point which I would like everyone's feedback on the fact that the leading goalkicker in the Tac Cup has not been drafted for a long, long time.

Any reasons as to why this is you think this is ?

Footychick04,
'Chicken' is a good footballer in his own right and doesn't have to ensure someone gives goals to him. He has plenty of natural talent including the best pair of hands I have ever seen on a junior footballer and can provide massive leads from either end of the ground.

Edwards I believe is in WA (might be on WC rookie list) but has struggled to make in roads.

Aaron Edwards is playing in the WAFL and has been playing moderately well. This year (his second in Perth) he's switched clubs and has played in a variety of positions. Certainly hasn't been a consistent let alone prolific goal kicker. In that respect he's still learning to play a more rounded game off half back, wing and is no certainty for higher honours in 2005 or beyond.

Thanks llosis,

Saw him (Edwards) play one of the best games by a single player I've seen in TAC against Eastern a few years back. At Vic park the Stingrays lost the game but he marked and kicked absolutely everything. His hot head apparently didn't in dear him to the metro selectors back then and I'm assuming potential clubs.

Thanks for updating me on his progress.

i find it disturbing that if a person takes particular interest in a kid then they are automatically dating them or talking them up. God leave your narrow minds behind when your talking on this forum, everyone on here will have a small inkling of favourtism towards a player\team, stop whinging and instead of tryin to be detectives...just talk footy.
cheers. ( everyones boyfriend\girlfriend in the jets team..ahah)

Little to me lives uo to his name. The boy would be a top 10 if he played as he does now as a 195/95 player. AFL clubs know that a big man can through experience cover a lower level of natural talent and aquire skill but a talented kid can rarely cover a lack of height playing as a positional rather than a roleplaying player .Little has the hands , the initial speed, the set shot accuracy to be a reciever FF but lacks the height and body to win the contested ball against the likes of Scarlett,Waklin or Michael. He will probably go on and kick a lot goals at a VFL level but doubt he will ever be drafted as a FF

'Chicken' Little

With response to comments from Turbocat about 'Chicken' Little, he does need to bulk a bit but will still get drafted. It is natural for a kid to bulk up once they get drafted, it's thanks to the fitness, coaching and development staff at the clubs who help them out in this regard. With regards to playing him as a full forward, he actually played the majority of last year with us (Rupertswood) due to injury and our u19s coach played him downback (CHB/HBF) and on the ball. I think although these are only a few postions one can play in, he is versatile due to his speed, endurance and how well he reads the play.

I agree with the comment about him being a high goalkicker at VFL level. He was telling me if he didn't get drafted, he would go to the Bendigo Bombers, Williamstown or Coburg and try his luck there.

But I wouldn't be suprised if he played as a flanker or CHF, any thoughts ?

However, do you think that him being the cousin of James Hird is an advantage for him to be picked up by Essendon ?

STATS ALL!

Turbocat, you cant tell me these fullbacks were 95kgs when they were 18 you git! Give the boy 5 years and he'll be sitting on all their heads. If your so sure why dont you pull on the boots and line up next to Matt Little, then your useless, uninformed opinion might change! Oh yee eh pal

the chicken

to ben 'oh yeah, cupla pots few cans' carbonaro,
the point you make about 'chicken' little is quite valid. so too is sedat sirs as i personally have played against the feathered one and got torn a new bodily orophus. to the doubters and the tall poppies, both the man of poultry origin and jesse d the gun, deserve to be drafted and best of luck to them.

BC The stats I have seen say he is 183/79 , even putting 15kgs will not make him grow. Its just that as you get the best of the best he will put up against tall, quicker and equally talanted. The odds are you do not make it as a key marking forward at that height. However maybe he has assets that I havent seen.Cameron Ling who was slightly taller was not considered a mid but made it as such. If so he could be a dangerious player , his natural ability to go to the hole to take the lose man mark and convert as Ling has done.

SedatSir , keep going man , I enjoy a smile.

Turbocat,

Would have to agree on the size issue, height that is. Needs to grow, weight will come. He knows how to play the role - great lead, brilliant kick for goal but 183 cm is not tall enough. Would be interested if that was his listed height at the start of the year as it would be a good chance he has grown since then.

little seems to struggle when contested, agreed that he can take a good mark and has a great aim at goal but sturggled when fighting for the ball and by the looks of it, it doesnt look like his going to grow that much more. havnt heard much about J.D smith, what are his chances of getting drafted, lacks a bit in pace though any thoughts?

JD's a champ !!!

JD is a good footballer who may lack in the area of pace or speed, but has plenty of hardness and general football smarts. Unfortunately, we haven't seen much back down at the Rupie, he is a fully entrenched in the Calder side.

His Dad, Brendan was a good footballer with West Coburg in the EDFL.

I bet none of you are aware that Matts brother is 200cm and he didnt fully develop until he was 18-19 thats when he put on CMs, clubs will take that inot account.
I would be almost 100% sure that Matty will grow at leats another 5-6 even 7 odd CMs.
The kid is deffintly a chance to get picked up.

cheers

who's the git?

hey turbocat, I think you hit a raw nerve. This sedat sir can really sling some mud. He needs to stop throwing cheapies and have a good hard look at himself.

From reports I have heard, 'Chicken' played down back yesterday fpor the Cannons. This is obviously a move for the Cannons coaching staff to see how he performs playing in different position around the ground.

As stated in a previous post on this thread, he did play down back last year when playing at club level for Rupertswood.

You have to put Little in a team that doesnt have so many inside 50's and perfect dispoasal to their full forward.

I wouldnt mind being a full forward in Calders team.

Totally agree, the precision passes and the number of opportunities he gets per game warrant 5 or 6 goals..

guys, i have had the absolute pleazure to play with both matt little and jesse d smith. even though i showed them up every time they seemed to domiante every local game they played from under 16s. jesse d smith played 3 games in under 16 local footy as he was at calder and still managed to poll 9 league votes, on the other hand matty kicked 96 goals (and about 10 behinds) in the season. jesse is one of the hardest players ive played with and matty one of the most potent forwards. any club would be lucky to have just one of these players. as for you turbo pussy. i dont understand where you are coming from, mattys still growing (in many ways) as weve heard and seen. he will be a force to be rekoned with in 3 years time in the AFL...you just wait n see.

listen here al you sad sacks...matt little got best on ground in the under 19 grand final last year on the half back flank he can play anywhere
