Opinion Matt Thomas

Matt Thomas should find it hard to get back into the senior team when he recovers from his injury. Daniel Jackson and Matt Arnot are adequate in and under midfielders that are specialists in winning the contested ball. Moving forward, Thomas should be playing in the VFL for the rest of the year unless one of Jackson or Arnot are injured or suspended.

These guys are b-grade depth players at best
Even then I would be hesitant to have them in my reserves team as they're slow poor decision makers and are possessed with poor skills

I think he is really undeserving of some of the criticism he gets, especially when words like "spud" are thrown around. Slow- yes. Spud- NO. Was one of our best performers in the last few rounds and IMO there are a few others before him that deserve to be dropped- I know i'd rather have a good tackler who puts his head over it and wins the ball who is on the slower side but provides effort, over a super quick outside player who provides little to zero defensive pressure who has decent skills. Would rather someone like Arnot or Miles in the team obviously long term IF they are performing better, but a bloke that has come to the club, embraced it and given his all at his second chance at AFL level doesnt deserve blokes cheering for him being injured.

Fair comments, only prob I have is at some point we need to giving ops to the likes of McDonough and arnot. Giving a 27yo with genuine limitations to his game a chance before some talented youth doesn't make sense nor stand us in good stead. Good luck to him, he s certainly made the most of his chances , and rightly pointed out chumps like grigg, Edwards and others that should be feeding off him have let the club down more

Maybe. I haven't minded him but his last couple of games have been ordinary. He's definitely a depth player - and that's why we picked him at pick 40 odd off the rookie list.

If Miles gets 30 and uses them well in the VFL I think his opportunity will come. It's his time now.

Love watching him smash people, andmight be good in some circumstances, but at the moment he just compounds our overall lack of speed.
