Delisted by the Cats, His an All Australian, hasn't played a game since round 22, 2007.. Is he worth the punt?

Why would Geelong delist him after playing in a Premiership and earning AA selection? I'll let you ponder that one.

He will not play next year and his chances of playing ever again are extremely doubtful. Quite simply it is an injury that he may not recover from sufficiently to play football at the highest level.

If he does make it back, I hope all clubs leave him for Geelong to pick up again.

Would he even get a game in our backline? Waite, Jamison, Bower, Thornton, that's a group i think we should just be looking to let settle and develop, not constantly shift and change.

Last I heard they were not concerned over whether he'd be able to play footy again.......more concerned over whether he would ever be able to walk properly again.

Umm, he didn't play in the premiership. He was injured in Rd 22 and didn't play in the finals. I think he was rushing to get back and probably exacerbated the injury.

Feel very sorry for him. If he has been delisted from Geel, I would expect him to retire. Geel would be keeping him if he is a realistic chance of playing again. Expect him to possibly go into some sort of coaching role with Geelong.

wtf ever happened to him?

Broke his navicular (sp?) bone in his foot. Apparently it doesn't have a good blood supply to the bone making it hard to heal. Very similar to what nearly ended James Hird's career.

Very very doubtful TODN. It is al guess work with this injury. Maybe 12 months away from the list might help and take pressure off Ego to return.

So do I, and I assume most clubs will leave him to us :)

I hate the term delist. From what I know it was a mutual decision by club and player with the promise of re-drafting him if he heals. He will also be an assistant coach at the club. It sucks, but after holding him for two years with little improvement we really had to let him go :(

You have to make tough decisions in a tough game. As I said, I feel for him, as it is a terrible injury. Would like to see him get back to football. There was an article on the Geelong board that suggested he might look to coming back in 2011 if everything healed properly. Would be nice to think he could make a come back.

I don't know for certain but I imagine that there would be some sort of "gentleman's agreement" between the clubs that if Egan does manage to make it back into a condition where he will be able to play AFL again, the clubs will leave him for Geelong.

Similar to what happened a few years back with Essendon wanting to put Ramanauskas on their rookie list.
