He says that now. The club ran the line all through until late Feb early March 2024 when a single reporter asked about Nicks contract and bam, all of a sudden Nicks was being signed and the reason given for the signing was so Nicks team can concentrate on making finals.

So the question is, do we trust the club enough to not fold like a cheap suit out of fear of the happy clappers when reporters come sniffing around again in Feb and Mar.

I do not. I suspect he will be granted an extension so the club can play happy families.

Nicks is a big reason why we shat the bed in finals. His negativity, anxiousness filtered into how the players played and you can’t win with a coach like that.

I for one can excuse players for lack of experience for losing a final, even going out in straight sets.

What is not a good look is

• a game plan that was drastically changed in the lead up to finals to be more defensive and is clearly back to the methodical slow movement of the ball designed to curtail the oppositions ability to score.
• players looking confused
• players seemingly lacking energy and motivation to attack the contest.
• Weird selection policys that seem to favour players with minimal output i.e. Murphy, Pedlar
• That weird selection of a 9th defender to play a defensive forward role

Nicks lost those finals before the siren went because he did what he always does. He just couldnt get away with it in finals and was soundly exposed.
