So we have heard directly from a former player versus Wayne’s made up crap that Nicks allows players to take control.

Anything by Wayne to absolve Nicks from his crap coaching during the finals.
I wish I could find the quote. Going to try and dig it up. Might have to listen to the past few days McHenry was on covering for Rowey as I think that's where he said it.

Also said (obviously based on his time at Adelaide) if he talks to someone at say a bar, they absolutely won't believe you when you tell them some players are basically not meant to get the ball and so on. They're meant to just run patterns, do an exact role etc.

Nicks.

Obviously coaches want to lure opposition players away from where the ball is going to go so the big guys can have a free run at it. so obviously there is a non statistical element. However, that should be 100% flexible.

This explains a lot as to why we get given a bath by intercept defenders. We obviously try and decoy them by putting (insert potato here) on them, they dont fall for it and intercept at will. Meanwhile, said potato is doing laps around the boundary.

So if we think about it in Murphy's case and no doubt Pedlar was the new guy given that role. If I was the coach and i chanced it by putting their opponent as an intercept defender and they were consistently overlooked by team mates being free, im not only going to ignore them the entire match but id even suggest dont even both looking for them at all. Chance it that they will barely hurt us. The odd goal is ok.

Basically we need the flexibility to change that right up up its not working. Have we ever seen Nicks change it up? I think its clear he really doesnt.

Just listened to it and the way Ned responded it is a worry, especially if by some minor miracle we get Petracca. He has a good chance of being Nixed with us.
It was also interesting that Campo brought up the roles and structures under Nicks and asked Ned whether Nicks would allow Petracca to be himself - i.e., play to his strengths rather than slot into an existing role/structure. It sounded like a resounding NO from Ned said in a diplomatic fashion!

And we wonder why some of our draftees don’t develop, we kill their instincts which got them drafted, they are too busy learning roles, would explain why Draper seems to have gone backwards at SANFL level and hasn’t flourished at AFL

practicing non statistical running patterns is terrible development.

Imagine crushing young players by forcing them to learn a structure that doesn't hold up in finals whatsoever

It holds up what you talking about. ROB said everything was fine with their system, just Hawthorn and Collingwood blocked the leading lanes. Worked perfectly.

Or forcing them to become small forwards or defenders and never giving them a chance to play serious midfield minutes even in the SANFL when excelling in the midfield was what got them drafted. I understand versatility is good to have but not every player is a good utility/swingman.

This is where there will be caution against Simpson (when it’s time to replace Matthew in the near future). What is ascribed to Nicks applies to Simpson - non statistical roles, regimented, players (particularly young/fringe players) needing to conform to system, shoehorned into unsuitable positions.

All coaches adhere to it, but the good to great ones learn and adapt, encouraging players to think on-field, play to their strengths, focus more on positives rather than weaknesses etc.

Time for some self reflection for Matt, needs to look at what he did (and didn’t do) and learn and grow from it. Big preseason ahead, coaching for his career again next year…

No wonder we keep developing players that can't find the ball, they're instructed not to find the ball, which is a very successful idea that definitely works in finals

It's been a problem since before Nicks got here.

I think we make way more adjustments during games than most supporters believe .....like Curtin from Wing to CBA's

That thought process by Nicks has been subtlely on view in comments made in pressers
**** you are delusional!

Name me one person on this board who is believing your BS!

I honestly don't know who is more clueless out of you & Nicks. Mental pygmies.

Not surprising given Nicks is our non-statistical coach.

Wayne is our non-statiatical supporter...

He’ll destroy more careers
This is my concern.

We are putting together a decent squad, but we have a moron in charge, so he is going to waste it unless we can move him on asap.
