Hardly (tall guy plays in defence a bit when required isn't a slam dunk, you'll have to refer to another anti-Nicks talking point), but this isn't the Curtin thread.

Dude, the answer is clear that he saw Curtins height and wanted a deep defender. thats not even up for debate. He was getting smashed in deep defense at Sanfl and AFL level so they began playing him towards the middle. You dont drive a ferrari like datsun unless you are planning on driving like a datsun. He was never deep defense because of a lack of options.

According to your logic, I should have waited until he kicks 10.5 to then make a prediction that he’s a pretty good kick for goal?
Except it wasn’t a prediction was it?
Started out as an observation.

Wtf why are you trying so hard to smear campaign?
Observation - he’s a good kick for goal.
Prediction - can see him being quite useful other than a set-in-concrete defending role, including more up forward (which is the entire point of me saying that he’s a good kick for goal).
Just give it up loser froggy.

You’re doing that yourself.
I haven’t had to do anything.

To be fair, there is a bit of a pattern here. Dawson also requested to play midfield... we know that Rachele and Rankine have both requested it too, to various levels of response.

I'm sure what's happening in reality is that Nicks has discussions with the players in which they feel included, rather than dictated to.
Credit where credit is due, like the coach has the final say; for example, if a player like Pedlar said 'let me play on Tom Stewart', the coach would step in and say, 'thanks Peds but we just don't think it will work' - wouldn't he? ;)

Didn't nicks say it was Max's idea? (yes i know what max has said since)

Yup. Though it may have been that Max floated it as a hypothetical a while back and Nicks/Murray and co (seeing there were a few others who could have talked Nicks out of the idea) was willing to pull the trigger on it this week.

Mind you, it does make sense it happened the one week where Max didn't have an obvious defensive match up seeing usually there's some small forward who can kick goals floating around.
