I was disappointed in the Fox/Kayo coverage last night they showed 98% of the first rounders receiving their jumpers. I assume Nicks was at Marvel last night? I assume he was maybe he was here as we didn't see Max get him jumper on the coverage.

Nicks, Dawson and MM all in SA I think

We get a first rounder for a bunch of junk picks, that's value!

What does he track as a 2nd or 3rd tall defender? Can he provided any drive off the backline or he is more of a lock down defender?
Very good lock down

Sound offensively rather than dynamic at this stage

Will end up a v good intercept mark

3rd tall eventually or play on the most dangerous medium and even small forwards in lock down roles

I’m thinking he ends up in that old Jake Kelly role, but better offensively than Jake was

Could play as a 3rd tall too, but the more tall, versatile intercept players we have, the better

Pick 17, Adelaide: Max Michalanney (father-son - matching Sydney's bid)

Doerre Power Rankings: outside-20

Recruited from: Norwood (SA)

Likely role: General defender - negating style with a focus on limiting the impact on the opposition's best small or medium forward.

Readiness and likelihood to play: Michalanney should be in the round one mix and be looking to establish himself as a regular in season one.

What you should know: The son of Jim, Max Michanney is eligible to join Adelaide as a father-son selection due to his father playing more than 200 games for SANFL club Norwood. An athletic defender, Michalanney plays a negating style and is effective shutting down forwards of various heights and types.

I thought his dad was a few short of 200 games.

How did we manage to pull one over the AFL?

I think the number is a little Sus (SANFL used to include trial games in total). Doesn't matter now though.
In a kinda way Im hoping its less games just to enjoy the melts.

I thought I recalled reading literally he was just a few short.

IIRC when games were originally counted in the 200 ...it excluded Escort Cup games ...it seems they were included in this calc, but stand to be corrected

According to Fox Footy those geniuses at Sydney cost us a first round draft pick:

From the article:

So to recap, the Swans cost two of their rivals first rounders, drafted a Papley clone and added a lowly-ranked side’s future picks.

The irony being that the fallout means we can now trade our 2023 or 2024 1st rounders without any issues.

Sydney indirectly gave us a gift.

The level of research some in the media do is absolutely appalling. There would be plenty of casual BigFooty members with better knowledge of how these things work

I'm looking forward to GWS bidding on Sydney academy players in the future...

He's a Backman. Playing him up forward this year was really bad development in my opinion.

And well, yes.
Dylan Stephens OOC next year hope club targets with 2024 first rounder.
Then a star midfielder as priority one in next year's draft.
100% agree with this, he was always a backman as a junior, he's been played out of position since arriving at Crows. If memory serves me correctly they did the same strategy with Fog for a while in the SANFL as well?!?! Now FOG is fit and is playing great footy. I'm not sure the same strategy is working for McAsey just yet but he was a sensational junior and I hope he can have a big preseason and go into 2023 (in the backline) and make big strides. If McAsey starts to shine alongside Rankine, Rachele, Gollant, Thilthorpe, Fog, Soligo, Butts etc etc... 2025 is looking good.
