Maybe it's time to face facts; we may actually be a pretty mediocre side

There are certainly some poor rankings in areas that were
seen as strengths last season as well as some very
strange names who top certain rankings.

Goal assists seems a glaring one - I guess we do tend to score from stoppages as a higher % than most sides but it still seems an area for improvement

Ten weeks ago, whenever I heard a song on the radio that was played at the 'G on Grand Final day, the positive flow of energy and adrenalin raced through my veins. It brought back so many positive memories.

Lately, whenever I hear a song played on the radio that was played at the 'G on Grand Final day, I feel empty. I sort of feel disappointed that we haven't continued on with our form from the final four weeks of the 2016 season.

"Why can't it be us?"

Well last year it was us.

Why can't we be good enough to win our final 16 games this season? It's an even season, and at the moment there is no standout. Why can't that standout be us? Why can't it be us? Why can't we go on a tear to finish off the season, like so many successful premiership teams in the past have done. And I don't want to be limping over the line either. I can't see why we can't go 16-0 and have half of those result in convincing 8+ goal victories. I am sick of this mediocrity bullshit. We are so much better than this. Stuffed if I know why we aren't playing well.

Brisbane never always finished top but lifted for the finals, maybe we will be like that, finals specialists.
That would still be cool and would make songs on the radio great.

Brisbane may never have finished on top, but they won their final 16 games in 2001.

From what i have seen i think you are a great team,But you are now the hunted club in 2017 and not the hunter if that makes sense.
This seems to be the prevailing attitude of the general media, but it
does not explain the tardy starts to games nor does it provide any
rational explanation for coming from behind in every game. The
game style of the premier has always been held to the most
scrutiny since the dawn of football.

I kind of wish Nathan Buckley had gone home after twenty minutes
last week as you probably win by more.;)

Can't win the flag or even compete with the 22 going around at the moment.

Need the best on playing to form and we are a chance, if not we are not getting close.

Maybe the choice of words is a problem, I don't think the team is mediocre (despite my incredulity at some of their play at my emotional peak during games). Definitely underperforming, maybe a drop in effort levels by a few and probably some mistakes been made at MC and by the coaching staff.

I think my disappointment is that they haven't looked like beating a team comfortably this year, and definitely haven't been close to playing a solid four quarters - possibly the GWS game aside, but that was marred by butchering the ball in front of goal.

Now there's the possibility that they will click in the second half of the year and start putting teams away, but I wouldn't bet on it. My guess is a 14-8 finish with a low percentage and have to do it the hard way like last year. C'est la vie.

I thought our form might be a tactic to stay under the radar and try a few experiments. I think the mindset by coaching staff is to not show how hand too early. However i also think they thought we'd still win games easier than we are and have more wins than we do. Be interesting to see selection tonight because i have a horrid feeling about Sat's game.
