Ive tried to be patient with Mayne but yeah ive had enough of the shoudda couldda wouldda player that he is. For what he provides in tackling, he lets down 10x in missed marks and missed shots for goal as a full time forward and a player who has been in the system for a while now.

Drop to wafl and maybe return. Is this guy in the leadership group? :thumbsd:

Hes a half forward flanker who can take a good mark

Not a full forward, he's the type that needs support and shouldnt be sent to the WAFL for not living to expectations, he's still pretty lean as well
Bingo.

But instead, we use him as a FF, while playing our best tall forward through the middle.

Good coaching, Harves.

It is not Maynes fault he is played as the main forward target when he should be the the 3rd tall. If Pavlich played forward Mayne would be much better.

The chain of command in the forward line should probably be Pav, Mayne, Ballantyne the 3 of them as consistent grouping would work wonders for our structure..whether Harvey sees it that way is another issue entirely.

Horrible suggestion. He's playing injured and punching above his level, shouldn't blame him for getting beaten by Glass - a lot of people do.

Bad call mate, he took a hanger in the last few minutes.

He tends to almost attack the ball too hard when he is not under pressure.
I admire his ferocity on the opposition but it appeared in the last quarter (from where I sit at the other end of the ground) that he dropped the chest mark because he simply attacked it too hard. I have seen him do this before.

Needs to add another string to his bow for his own sake. Great that he can chase and tackle. But one day if we get someone who can chase/tackle and provide more offense he may find himself expendable.

He just needs to Mark with strong hands...TEACH that freo... No excuses for that...last year as well....once he does that, he will be a more complete player... Its not like he's getting totally spoiled...He's got 2 hands on it.. and can't hang on..

I think he needs a couple of weeks off just to try and get back to full fitness come finals time if we make it. Mellington has shown he could be a decent replacement or even Pearce

I really like Mayne but to me his confidence in his goal kicking is shot. I see it as very similar to Palmer with his general kicking. He can nail them all in training or in the warm up but when it comes to the actual game he overthinks it and shanks it.

Why is Mayne in the firing line?

He was on arguably the best negating defender in the game and the bigger guys in the forward line (Johnson in particular) were not playing as KPP forwards, forcing Mayne to play a role he is not suited to.

Will probably get a rest for the next few weeks for his hit on Waters anyway.

Im still trying to figure out why that was a free kick! Waters was backing into a marking contest and Maine was running at the flight of the ball. Kudos to Waters for courage but your going to get smashed in that situation.

Yeah

Mayne is about 188cm on a good day and pretty lean built, while Glass is a legit sized forward and probably has 15 kilos on him, not to mention one of the best Defenders around, Bombing it to a 1 on 1 contest was always going to end badly
