I used to be a Macaffer fan but now think he is just an ordinary player who is lucky to be in the side.

im with invig in the terms of experience
but i also believe they are doing a daisy with him ... remember last year people were saying that thomas wouldn't be the player that they expected from a pick 2 etc, but he was playing a very defensive game
i see caff being taught the same, remember a few weeks ago he had 11 tackles for the game .. another game he held chappy for all but the last part of the last quarter
have some patience people, he is playing a role and im sure he is being developed into a run-with role going forward .... like people have said similar to ling

would love to see him assume a matthew boyd role though
actually now i wrote that, look at boyd in the early part of his career ... very similar

Maccaffer is doing a good job this season don't know what all the criticism is about apart from the set shots he has missed recently, interesting to not they have all been in the last quarter could be a fatigue thing as he was a technically sound kick at goal as a jnr.

Definitely best 22, strong bodied, safe hands, doesn't fumble and good skills, he is a little bit vanilla but that isn't a bad thing if he has no real weakness.

Playing in what role/position?

No spots in defence for him. Forward we have Dick to come in.

He's got all the attributes to make it. He is strong overhead, has great skills, i've seen him be very composed under extreme pressure and make the right decisions. He has the right build too. He's not fast but aint slow either. All he needs is experience and improved fitness which should improve with more preseasons. I think he'll be one of those players where people will be going where the fudge did he come from? when it all clicks for him. A great prospect.

wasnt this with those 2 vital kicks for goal and the stupid fumble from shaws kick in a couple of weeks back which cost a goal...:thumbsd:

I'm referring to when he is under pressure with the ball he is usually really composed and effective in his disposal - both handballing and kicking. He more often than not manages to clear it out to a player in a good position to move the ball on.

So what about his two missed goals? It's not like a player has never made a mistake before... These things really get taken out of context at times.

I think all he really needs is more experience, and to feel like he belongs at the level, and he'll be alright.
