NZ beat the bat a dozen times on day 1. It’s got enough in the pitch. Was seam movement and a bit of turn. Not the curators fault NZ has “quick” bowlers steaming in at slow medium pace

Looking pretty flat, besides the MCG pitch is usually ruled a disgrace by 10:02 on Boxing Day every year...

Well it certainly deserved it last year.

In the 2nd over a ball dribbled through to Paine twice. There was already concerns over the wicket after the first handful of overs. Slips were being pulled and Lyon was on all before 10 overs had been bowled.

Credit to the curator this year - dished up a good pitch. Even more impressive considering the debacle of the abandoned Shield match.
