McPharlin is not a forward

With all due respect to Harvey, that sounds suspiciously like tanking.

Lets be honest, if Worsfold came out and said that, we'd be all over him like a rash.

It's a fine line Rob, but in reality we have nothing to gain from losing. We've blown the PP and we will only drop (by one spot) if Port can find another win.

As has been said, it certainly wasn't just the backline that lost the game today.

To say that McPharlin is not a forward is just wrong IMO, but until we can draft or develop a couple more defenders he is far more valuable down back. You just have to cast your mind back a couple of weeks to realise that his pace and marking ability on the lead make him a very dangerous forward. However he (and Grover) are our best defenders, they of course both match up on different style/size forwards and I have no doubt that had McPharlin been playing on him, Reiwold would not have had such an influence on the game. We seem to have lots of options up forward, Pav, Tarrant, Cambell, Murphy etc and so I believe that McPharlin should remain in defense unless we can find a couple more defenders.
I would like to see Head or Drum get an opportunity on some key forwards and also wonder wether the likes of Tarrant or Campbell could be developed into defenders, this may not work but until we can come up with a better long term option I think we have to try something.
Geez we miss Hadrill and Parker.

Cuddles Connolly was pulling moves like that when we had to win to make the finals? Anyone remember the game he left Scotty Thorton on rocca and Rocca tore him a new one? Or Brad Johnson?

Harvey is doing what makes sense - playing guys and seeing if they are up to it or not.

He might be if he played for a team that could deliver the ball properly. Buddy and Roughead have it delivered by silver service. McPharlin has it bounced on his toes or over the top of his head.

That's very true.

However, once the ball was contested on the ground he stopped. The worst of this was actually in the backline where he spectated as Moss kicked a goal at the end of the second quarter. He is playing like shit at the moment.

That last bit of play he let roughead run past and tackle Hill just before he kicked.

No shepherd...piss weak

He is playing like a player who is frustrated. Tarrant to the wing? McPharlin to defence? Johnson/Sandilands rotating up forward?

Edit: Headland forward? Even if he is not match fit or ready for the midfield, he's no worse a target than McPharlin and Murphy.

Tarrant down back and Pavlich up forward has mean't McPharlin has to play forward.

Murphy is one dimensional hack and can't play the role himself, we are just extremely stretched for forwards at the moment.

Murphy showed more application than McPharlin. By a mile.

McP's best years are behind him. hayden is slow. murphy is soft. mundy pedestrian, thornton a liability. Otherwise we are ok. teach the waywards the of savouring a goal.

He's not a defender either, going by what he showed tonight.

Does anyone think he even wants to be playing?

So often I think, "Team McPharlin ****ing up again".

Murphy had a better game than Mcpharlin. Alot better, and thats saying something because i reckon Murphy is a spud.

Why don't we give big Kepler a go at FF?
