This ought to make a fair few people pretty happy! :thumbsu:

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/afl/6644926/versatile-docker-back-to-defence/

Fremantle veteran Luke McPharlin is set to return to defence in 2010 as the Dockers look to stabilise their defensive unit and return captain Matthew Pavlich to attack.

...

He said McPharlin would be looking to atone for his 2009 season when he looked a fish out of water in attack at times as the Dockers shifted Chris Tarrant to defence. "It is probably one of the better pre-seasons he has had and definitely the best one he has had since I have been here," Wallis said. "Fingers crossed Luke can really take the next step. I think by his own admission last year was a disappointing year from him and he will want to prove himself."

Excellent news.
Hopefully my buddy and long time favourite player can reproduce his pack leaping defensive glory years :)

Awesome news. Really want to get back into some good consistent form.

Fantastic news. He is such a better player in defence and hopefully he can get some confidence back into his game and contribute a bit more.

i was always under the impression that he was put forward because we wanted a swing man like hunter, he is 1000 times better in the backline

watch everyone jump back on the mcpharlin band wagon now that he is played in the right position. best CHB in the league when fit and confident, and the only player who can go with nick reiwoldt

KPR I don't think too many were off the McPharlin wagon, just frustrated at watching him struggle up forward when we know how good he is down back.
This is excellent news!

Yep happy to hear that. Good to read in that article they are trying to beef Hill up as well. I would think it'd be a fine line for him not to carry to much extra bulk when he has such lighting speed. You wouldnt want him losing any speed due to muscle that being said you wouldn't want him falling over in strong south easterly either... As I said fine line.
Anyway back on topic McPharlaps down back is a good thing!!

With this, probibly likely that Silvagni will be overlooked to be upgraded off the rookie list early, leaving it likely that one of DeBoer/Barlow to fight out for the first upgrade.

His pre season has been out of the box, seems to have lightened of and got his leap and speed back ,another reason to be confident of a realistic run at the finals

He does look like he has put a little bit on in the lower body in this pic. I would say he has been doing a fair bit of core strength work.

i think i remember an article from webber saying, that a lot of hilly's weight training was to increase power, meaning that he would be quicker off the mark etc... i think can anyone lese confirm?

we dont want to rob hilly of his biggest asset (other than his deadly accurate skills)

I remember reading they had him on program while they'd mage his speed while he put on weight or something. so it should be all good.

Great news on McPharlin. If he stays at CHB all year he would be a big chance to be AA.
This isnt good news for Grover though especially given he also had a very ordinary (by his usual consistent standards 2009). With Taz, McPharlin playing on the talls/and the odd gorilla and also Broughton, MJ etc capable against the talls, Grover would be needing a big start to the year to keep hs spot.
My guess would be he would be lucky to play 6 games in 2010

It's hard to see quite how Grover would slot in, hopefully it's not as a full forward...
Good to see Luke back where he does his best work

how long till a game comes along, he is played as a surprise swing man kicks 4 goals and becomes a mix match again?
