CHb or East Fremantle, which is it to be?
He hasn't fired a shot in the last 3 weeks at full forward and something needs to change in a big way for him. Murphy, Johnson and Polak are all capable of playing forward so let one of them FFS. I am becoming very annoyed with Mcharlin the gy is so overrated.

Back to CHB, he isnt a good kick at goal anyway. it was a gludge last year against Melb which came off, time to move him back. They could have used a defender today!

Teams know our tall forwards are our strength, they push numbers back make it a 3 on 2, and run the ball out with ease. Bite the bullet if it ain't working, man up and at least have numbers around for when the ball hits the ground. If its 9 0n 9 in our forward line its not ideal but at least make it hard for them to run it out.
Mcpharlin won't be dropped.

My thoughts before the game were that he should play more stints further down the ground to get a touch and some much needed confidence. He has been outnumbered week in week out, it has to take its toll.

Bit harsh on him today, everytime he went for the ball 2 defenders converged on him. Melbourne played a loose man all day down back, the players just semed to kick to him all day.

I know it sounds easier said than done, but why don't our forwards actually lead, instead of expecting to take a big contested grab. We have a great marking forward line, and i didn't understand why the boys kept bombing it long when they were outnumbered each time in todays match, Pavlich is almost unstoppable on a lead and McPharlin also has a good chance of taking a grab on the lead most of the time.

The game has really changed from last year,with these new rules. Seems like forwards don't have the room or space to run to like they used to. All this flooding back , McPharlin and Co just aren't able to run to a lead UNLESS the the clearance from the middle is precise and it comes into the forward line quickly. Same applies on the rebound from defence, the players have to really charge straight down the ground and deliver it as quick as possible to catch the opposition 'flat footed'. Melbourne were really switched on today in that area whilst we seemed lethargic, probably the tough last 2 games and travel. That first 5 -10 minutes of the first quarter we were really switched on, except we were breaking down in the forward line, we could of had 6 goals on the board before Melbourne knew what had hit them, may then have been a different story. I think they still may have run over us but then momentum is a strange variable, I blame the umpires,they certianly kicked started their fight back in that first quarter.

My sentiments exactly. Otherwise our surging midfield ends up 10-20m behind, chasing the opponent on the rebound.

Most times they do lead but it isnt honored and they just bomb it.ive said before i always prefer mcpharlin chb.They did change the team around to try and get them going which is good.Imo we might see them change between mj and mcpharlin more often depending on match ups and the game.

Obvious that the Roos will flood this week...we should get McPharlin back to CHB this week, start Polak in the square with Farmer alongside, & Pav up the ground at CHF...bring in either Murphy or Campbell for stints in forward line when Polly require to assist in ruck.

sounds good tbh our current forward line has not worked great but johno is giving us good run also in the back line and elvis looked lost in backline once he was sent last week not his old elvis fro mthe backline to sprint thesecond he gets the ball.

McPharlin and Pav don't seem to work well together since Pav has been playing closer to goal.
In the same way that Farmer and Medhurst don't seem to play well together.
McPharlin relies on his lead and I believe that Pav is now working the same space.
Perhaps Murphy to FF and McPharlin to CHB might benefit both. That of course presuming that McPharlin is not having leg/hammy problems.
Murphy has to get a run soon or may understandably look to move on.
For mine I also thought that the forward line looked more potent with Medders playing out of the pocket rather than Farmer. Medders knows where to lead for the ball - even if the delivery invariably lands at his bootlaces.

That point would be okay, but given that isn't the case, Pav has been playing as a midfielder who floats forward on occasion in the past 2 games.

i am really frustrated with the way CC has been using him i always want him to be left in goal sqaure and running towards quick incoming delivery....but our problem is we dont deliver quick enough.

as for medhurs and wiz debate there meant to be crumbers we need top crumber somethign we lack medhurst doesnt chase hard enough forward defensive work is poor for him whilst wiz is way /miles ahead of medhurst with defensive work in forward line and he crumbs well.

I think Sailor has some good points there. We have to bite the bullet and give Spud a fair dinkum shot at establishing himself as a Full Forward, I repeat Full Forward. Hard leading forwards such as Pav Spud and Medders will break up an oppositions defence creating space for midfielders and the likes of Wiz. Thats if they don't all lead to the same space, which appears to be the case at the moment. Medders needs to become a selfish forward again and back himself to kick the goals, hes bloody good at conversion. Mcpharlin is an outstanding CHB who provided alot of rebound when he was playing there, that defence would be very solid with the addition of him down there.
I also don't think we can expect Haddrill back, I just can't see it. I Hope Im wrong.

I'd say that Murphy is a good forward on a lead, but hasn't yet proven he has the ability to take frequent contested marks in the AFL. Maybe he needs more time and body strength to develop in this area. If Fremantle were a better side at kicking to forwards on a lead then he would be suited to playing forward, but at this stage they aren't.

All the more reason to get him in there. Get our midfielders to start playing this type of footy and to give Spud more experience. At the moment they bomb it in because they are relying on Mcpharlin to take a hang but hes not getting the run at the ball anymore.

i have a feeling that schofield will help us in this department he may not have great speed but accuracy in delivery was his middle name.
