Have you ever made a wrong call? Gone too early?

Here is your chance to own your mistakes and show that you are the bigger man/woman/whatever.

To start with, i thought PD and JL would stay, and that posters were too negative and biased.

I'm sorry posters. You were right.

P.s. there is no need to tag marty36 into this thread for a joke...

Just posted this seconds ago on another thread, but it fits here, so I paste:

"Agreed. Nothing wrong in coming clean and saying I misjudged. In fact it aids credibility. I believe my judgement over all to be pretty sound although I admit I over rated Kerridge and may have under rated CEY, although the jury is still out on that one. I said, going by memory, CEY has the potential to be a good but not great AFL player. I think that might still be a fair assessment, but I am more than happy for him to prove me wrong :):thumbsu:

I also think that with our recruiters left field drafts they now have enough credibility for us to sit back, research, observe and to see if they have indeed make the right call. Unless we have really followed the player closely it is dangerous for us to make definitive calls without a lot of knowledge."

Aah, just found my CEY post from about three years ago:

"Any one else noticed how CEY looks like he is playing in slow motion? Its surreal, but he gets away with it. Big bodied inside mid who can tackle and gets the ball out.

Can't quite see the comparisons to Goodes. Goodes is/was far more athletic and seemed more natural. More of that may come for CEY, but it seems his ceiling is a fair bit lower. In short, a very handy big inside tackling mid who can take a mark, but probably not a heck of a lot more. Has the potential to be quite a good AFL player, but not a great one. However, there is something a little enigmatic about the guy which may just prove this analysis wrong. I hope so but don't think so at this stage."

After our finals capitulation in 2016 and failure to get Gibbs, I thought 2017 would turn out much the same as 2016.

For a while I thought Lever would stay, Cameron would stay and McGovern would leave.

I thought Richmond had a 1 in 3 chance of beating us in the grand final.

I thought Grigg had it.

He did not have it.

EDIT: i too thought Menzel would be good for us.

I too thought Grigg was going to star for us at the end of 2014 :'(

I thought Douglas had no impact. I was wrong. He ended up playing some great footy for us and won a B&F.

I also thought Grigg would be a good player.

This year thought we'd cycle Otten around again instead of playing Doedee/Fogarty.

Thought Menzel and Hampton were going to end up more important players than the seed. Boy was I wrong there.

Also thought we'd only get 18 for Charlie... And atm it looks like 12 is completely fair for both sides of the ledger. Win win trade.

I thought Danger would stay and said so a number of times. I reckoned JL would shoot through like a Bondi tram the moment 2017 was over though.
Lyons had left the year before ;)

I thought Dangerfield would re-sign, up until the point where he still hadn't signed by the end of the regular season.
I thought Lever would re-sign, up until the point where he didn't re-sign very soon after the CBA was finalised.
I thought Menzel would be a good player for us.
I thought Shaun McKernan would be a half-decent player for us.
I thought we overpaid by about $100k/year for Betts when we first got him across (but was ok with the deal as we needed to offset the draft sanctions somehow).
I thought Brad would be the better Crouch.
I thought Tippett would be a better player for Sydney than he turned out to be.

I though The Squiggle showed the path to the holy grail in 2016, never put the same faith or hope in it since and better for it.

When at a Sturt v Adelaide game I watched Greenwood for a while and thought “who the f*** is this blonde basketballing ponytailed prancing prettyboy?”

I thought Kerridge and Menzel would be absolute stars for us.
I thought Lever would be our future captain. I also thought he would re-sign right up until just after the CBA had been agreed on.
I thought Fogarty was no chance of playing round 1 when he was drafted.
I thought Matt Crouch would turn out to be Priddis 2.0.
I thought we were close to a certainty to win last year’s granny.
Adding on to that, I thought the only team that wouldn’t trouble us in the finals was Richmond.
I thought Tex would take the comp by storm and kick 70 goals a year for a solid 8 years after 2012.
