Paul Medhurst will remain a Magpie until at least the end of the 2010 season, having signed a new two-year contract with Collingwood.

Medhurst, 26, has enjoyed an outstanding season with the Magpies, having played all 19 games and booted 47 goals playing as a versatile forward.

He spoke to CTV on Thursday about his new contract.

“It feels good. It’s very exciting. I have enjoyed my time here so far and no reason I won’t have another great two years, Medhurst said.

Medhurst came to the club in 2007 in a trade that sent forward Chris Tarrant to Fremantle.

“I started pretty slow early (at Collingwood) with a couple of injury setbacks and homesickness but I think I have built a bit of momentum going forward and the club has as well.

“(I am) Starting to play some really good footy together and I have really enjoyed my time.”

Medhurst previous season high has been 50 goals (2003) and looks to top that number this season.

“Three games plus hopefully finals coming up, one a game should get me there. It would be good to beat it by one or two.”

Collingwood will head over to Fremantle for the final home-and-away match of the season.

“Obviously their (Fremantle) struggling a little bit at the moment and were looking like a good chance to play finals again so I am pretty happy where I am within the club and where the club is heading.

“I haven’t been back to Subiaco to play Fremantle yet so I am sure it will be good fun. I will have family there to support me, should be a good crowd that gets in there as well so I am looking forward to it.”

Good on ya Meds, I would have been utterly shocked if he hadn't re-signed, but it's always good to hear that he's pleased with he way things are going at the club. :thumbsu:

thats good to see hes signed now. i was excited to see we got medders in the trade for tarrant because i remembered him as a good kick and mark for his size at freo. never would of have thought hed play this consistent footy tho for the pies though , would be easily in our top three for the copeland, battling it out with swan pendles. also even pushin for AA imo

YEHHH.... thats awesome, i love him he was my favourite player outside of collingwood before he came across, and now is one of my favourites at the club, i still cant go past Swanny as my favourite, him and medders were together ALOT today at training, and i am glad to report that the whole group was alot chirpier than last friday when i was there!

Ironic it was almost the same day as news has broken that Tarrent is now out for the next 15 weeks with a shoulder injury. And i think kicked next to nothing goals this year.

May i also say medders stays Dids goes, if there is anything between them i guess thats been solved.

Could have just cut and pasted my responce 20 minutes before yours

Despite the fact he did not work out at Collingwood I wish him the best in his recovery.
And I hope he can get his career back on track.
On his day he was good forward for the Pies.
