South Freo,
Was watching the Collingwood v Brisbane game last night and remembered why we got rifd of Medhurst.

Sure he can play some good footy, as evidenced by his 9 goals in a game for us amongst other exploits, but jeez, he really knows how to lose a game for the team.

While in the last quarter against Brisbane he did some good things, he did some disastrous things, which in the end cost the Pies the points. Freo have enough issues at the moment, so thank god we don't still have him running around the park.

For those that don't know, Medders kicked 1 goal, 4 behinds last night, with a chance to put the Pies out in front with minutes left, but he missed. He also gave away 2 x 50m penalties late in the last quarter, as the Pies went down by 3 points.

Vintage Medhurst. Does these great things, but gets his work undone by stupid moments that cost the team more than what he gives.

I was thinking the same thing. Same old enigmatic Medders - brilliant one minute , a disaster the next , bless him.

You forgot that he kicked one OOF in the last quarter as well.

Medders has helped me get very close to taking out NOTW for our unofficial tipping.... if other results don't get any closer that is...

How was his half hearted effort (in the 3rd I think) when players where throwing themselves in willingly and Meddre baulked. Even Commetti didn't let that one go.:p

I agree. Some hold him still with the highet regard, and are still upset we got rid of him. That last kick though was a tough shot and you would back him from there to take the shot. He still had a good game overall and I think Brizzy won the game through their persistance.

When he has a bad game, he has a shocker. I think this year will be one of his best with the amount of possessions he has been racking up. Malthouse has him playing in a good position to get the most out of his kicking.
Knowing Freo we will re-draft him in a few years!

I just love how the commentators honestly believe that he is a much better player now he plays for collingwood.

He is the same player he always was, they just never bothered to watch Fremantle with a positive attitude.

Was thinking the same thing last night!! We watched knowing the final score and listening to the commentators was too funny....

I thought he played quite well last night. Certainly gave more than Tarrant has given us recently. I love Medders :)
Not to mention the number 8 pick (ben reid) that you gave us as well...i thought he was fine last night, he definitely wasnt the reason we lost

I think he looks better because he isn't expected to be any more than the ordinary Medders he always was. Here he was expected to be the main avenue to goal after Pav. At C'wood he can get lost in the system and be the on again/off again pocket type player that is allowed to get away with inconsistency.

Medders is alright by me - BTW, might want to complain about him in the last quarter, but he was the only fwd to really to step up when the final flings were being flung.

No he didn't! Where did you get that from?

I remember one.

BTW, of the 4 points, 2 were very tough shots that weren't unconsidered sprays, one while running the flunk on his wrong side (so to speak) and so is neither here nor there.

My recollection is that Scott Burns gave away one. That's all.

If Medhurst had given away two 50's in the last quarter, Collingwood supporters wouldn't be talking him up so much right now for having a good game. He also would have been caned in the media this morning. But there's no mention of it in the write-ups.

All that aside, the late shot at goal the OP is referring to was difficult. Not many players would have kicked it. Thomas's miss was worse.

Still has half a heart more then Tarrant.

You guys have to stop trading.

Just don't even participate in any October proceedings.

How much are you paying Tarrant?

How about you go get to hell off our board you stupid troll.

lol :D troll

Yeah i'm a real troll

If you can't stick up for your own players when they're called pea hearts than what can ya do.

are you a real troll?

or more an orge?

perhaps an orc?

maybe a dark elf?

can never tell with you collingwood types...

Arguing over heart and the implications whether it is as big as phar lap between Medhurst and Tarrant is like arguning over who is tougher between Pee Wee Herman & Calson from Queer Eye For The Straight Eye.....

Some really funny stuff in this thread, and they say our supporters have NFI. The guy plays small forward where it's hard to be consistent. He now works his ring off to tackle and pressure when the balls in the forward area. When he played for Freo your coaching staff bulked him up to the point where he was no longer mobile, thats no longer the case and the speed and desperation are back. Those are the facts dispute them if you like.

for his size hes a bloody good mark... i remember him giving archer the run around in canberra in one of his early games

tarrant offers a lot more to freo than his actual productivity structure wise.
