Had one once, piece of crap. Next time you upgrade your desktop computer. Keep your old one and use it as a media player and server. Buy a 1.5TB HDD ($130) and and video card with HDMI output ($100-150). A wireless keyboard and mouse ($40) You could also wireless connect it to your internet and surf the net on your TV. Use a player on your computer to play the files (VLC Free). Full screen them and there you go.

I have a had a couple of the "ebay" media player/recorders and all have been servicable but have major limitations.

I also have a WDTV http://www.wdtv.com.au/ which allows you to play just about any media on a TV at full High Definition. Excellent, highly recommended portable device.

But....The best I have seen and subsequently bought, at a very reasonable price for the features is the LG MS408D, twin HD Tuner, twin HDD, media player and recorder.
Read all the features.
$699.00

Got one for the laptop.
Dual HDTV Tuners. Very handy to take away down the coast in the bus.
Real nightmare as a PVR/DVR. Resource hungry and has 2 (two) aerials on 5mm thick cables hanging out of it.
Makes for a messy desk.
Not a realistic option for recording TV unless you live in a tent.:D

I might stick with my USB DVD player that does Div X and maybe run a cable from the Pooter to the Teev and wait until the technology catches up with the hype.

If the one I posted of EBay actually did what it says it does it would be perfect.Maybe in a year or two.:(

I wouldn't hold your breath, I read on cnet a while back that due to the poor sales of these devices they are being phased out by the companies that make them.

WDTV is definately the way to go. But mate sure its the new version, I think its called "Live"?

Plays pretty much all codecs has plenty of I/O options at a decent price. Static Ice has them listed from ~$170.

Do it!.
