Who do you want that will be on the market?

These are probably the most realistic trades:

Mitch Thorpe (Hawthorn) - heard he is on his way out of Hawthorn, esspecially with it being tough to get into that forward line of Franklin, Rough, Boyle.
We should be all over this guy.

Robbie Warnock (Fremantle) - continually linked with Melbourne this young 205cm ruckman is definately someone i think we should sink our teeth into.

Mitch Brown (West Coast) - like Thorpe of Hawthorn, Brown was West Coast's top draft pick in 2006 (No. 16). Not getting much opportunity in WC - plays mainly at centre half-forward, but can play defensive role.

Here are some others out of contract that we should look at:

Rusling (Collingwood) - wouldn't give up anything for him, nabb him only if he is delisted.

Marc Murphy (Carlton) - long shot but the kid is out of contract and hopefully Judd is sucking up too much cashiola. Would look nice in our midfeild.

Marc Murphy will not be on the market, and there is no way i would touch thorpe given his past injuries.. i hear he is a gun but just too much of a risk.

havent heard much about rusling or brown but the only realistic target from those players in my eyes is warnock.

You do realise he had a knee reconstruction prior to the start of the season, hence he's not getting many 'opportunities'?

Marc Murphy is out of contract. Its a long shot but worthy of a shot.
Warnock is the only one the media bangs on about...

I got a list of uncontracted players at the end of the year.. I'll digg through the archieves and post it...

Its a interesting read.

Thorpe - wouldn't Boyle be more realistic?
Warnock - looks good, wouldn't mind getting him and Watts instead of Naitanui
Brown - had injuries, not too sure
Rusling - pass
Murphy - kidding? No way he'll leave Carlton

With Boyle I cant see Bailey chasing him given the fact he is 24.. and Bails seems to want to build a young team. Thorpe is 20...

No way in almighty hell will Murphy or Thorpe be put on the table by their respective clubs. But it's a nice thought at the very least!

Justin Sherman is another name that can be thrown into the hat, he has had a dip in his career but has started to find some form again although I don't think Brisbane would be too reluctant in letting him go. We sincerely need some pace!

I may be kicked in the head for this but Ryan Murphy may be worth looking at. He has all the attributes to be something really special but it's just not working for him at Fremantle. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some real good

My targets would be three players: Ryan Murphy, Robbie Warnock and Brent Prismall.

As CaptainDavey said Murphy has plenty of talent but hasn't put it together just yet. I have faith in Bailey that he can mould young players into AFL footballers and Murphy is still fairly young. Warnock is a very good young player who would help our ruck division a lot and Prismall has very good footskills, something our midfield lacks at times.

I doubt we'd get all 3 considering we'd have to give up one of picks 17 and 18 at least so I'd say trade our pick in the 30's to the Cats for Prismall, and our pick after that to Freo for Warnock.

I don't Boyle fits into Bails plan players under 21. But i wouldn't mind having him in the side.

Thorpe i agree is talented and worth going after.

But i would be happy to trade our players for draft picks.

The sort of pace that can be chased down by PJ over 50m? I think Sherman would almost be too embarrassed to come to melbourne because of that rundown

That aside, Sherman could be a good addition. We don't have a genuine running half-back player and they are becoming ever more important for forward attacks with players like milburn, guerra and heath shaw.

I'd like us to try to get one of murphy, thorpe or brown. As said, boyle might be a bit old, 25 before next season starts and i have doubts about him anyway.

Murphy will be on the table and could be attached to the Warnock deal as a sweetener so that we don't try to go PSD on them. Thorpe is unlikely to be on the table, i see hawks off-loading boyle and keeping thorpe. Brown is the interesting one and the one i'd like to see us go after. He's 20 at the end of the year, he's had some injuries but nothing career ending. He's already 95kg and he goes hard at the ball, so he could be the big, tough power forward we need to replace Neitz.

I'll be disappointed if Warnock leaves freo and doesn't become a demon. No need to say anymore

Prismall would be a good addition, but i dont see what we've got to offer geelong besides draft picks, which i dont want to give up. There's lots of talk about warnock now, but come seasons end prismall will be the hottest property around and will fetch geelong a good price, i'm not interested in bidding for him.

I'd be happy with any of those players, but Warnock should be No.1 priority as that frees us to take Watts with our first pick. If we could end up with Warnock, Sherman and Brown without giving up any picks under 30 i'd be f__king ecstatic.

I agree that we should be gunning for Warnock before any other player. If Murphy was somehow included in a deal then I am all for it. the only thing would be is that how high a pick + player or combination of the two would Fremantle be asking for?

Brown is a hard one as he has had a knee reco and WCE have not had a chance to see him play so would probably be trying to hold to him for atleast another year. Unless he tells them that he wants out.

prismall will be so far over price it will be ridiculous. hes a good player but he plays in a gun mid-field with no tag each and every week, even i could get a kick playing with the likes of bartel ablett corey and selwood

Yeah, i see Brown as a long shot. WC we'll try to keep him as much as Hawks will try to keep Thorpe, but we could hope for a go home factor. Hope in vain that is

That sound like you are just reversing the hype trying not to follow the crowd, your not a sheep but an anti-sheep. Like those kids that dress in all black and then think that they're non-conformists.

Prismall's hype is more then warranted. He averaging something like 30 disposals a game in the VFL and was one of the best players in their VFL premiership last year. He's not getting much of a go in their side because of his lack of felxibility, he's a midfielder only and they expect more. Not all clubs have that luxury (as geelong does) and you can be assured that prismall will be a starting midfielder if he's not at geelong next year.

That said, i dont want us to use draft picks to get him and i cant see what players geelong would want from us, so i doubt we'll get him.

Warnock obviously. As for Thorpe we'd have to give up a top ten pick for him at least, the bloke is an absolute star, and will easily be the best from the 'Superdraft'

Highly unlikely i think you will find.... The kid will remain in Brown and Gold!

stranger things have happened my little friend... he will always be backup for Franklin and Rough.. i heard he wants a home with more opportunities.
I think Melbourne may be that place.:D

I wouldn't think so just yet.

Once he's is fully fit and with a full preseason he should be there 3rd tall. I'd think that they'll get rid of Boyle this year to show Thorpe he's they're prefered option for the 3rd tall spot. He could be bradshaw to roughie and buddy's brown and lynch.

If he has a full season and is struggling for a spot in the side, then he might want to leave, but there's no reason why he'd want to just yet. He'd be a trade target in about 2 years, but they'll keep him for now.

well done you have managed to say exactley the same as me just differently. Brilliant bunch of rable above it when all your doing is agreeing with me.

They will want first rounder for him and will probaley get it. No way in wholey hell would i give up a first rounder for a bloke who isnt proven to be a match winner on his own.

30 touches a week in the vfl?? Pfff shane valenti gets that and would we get a first rounder for him?

Prismall at best should worth Pick 36 (second rounder)

or

Prismall plus Geelong's second rounder (Pick 33-35) for Pick 17 or 20 as upgrade.

Heard Prismall's younger brother. Worth considering to draft?

We already have an apparently lazy forward in Newton (although I debate that). We don't need another one in Murphy who isn't as good anyway.

I liked him in 06. What's he done since?

There isn't too much that's going to be affordable to be honest. If we could get another first round pick that would be handy, but without giving up something too important to us.

Another possible target along with Thorp and Warnock alrealdy mentioned could be Troy Chaplin from Port, could use Bell as part of that swap.

I think another pick in the top 25 will be our main target regardless.
