Slowly inching towards the 41k mark.
We've got about 6 weeks to get up to that mark. Really great effort thus far.

and the Blues membership is the best value in the league with only 2 home games played to date.

If we made a prelim final (at least) this year, I have no doubt, our membership (ticketed or otherwise) would sky-rocket well past 50 K next year .

So none of those going ballistic after a four point loss to the reigning premiers handed back their memberships? Sweet.

I didn't detect any sarcasm, but don't believe it'd be possible to "hand back" a membership. Do people really try and get refunds?

I suppose, the more I think about it, the more I think it'd be possible.

Evan.

I re-signed nearly 2 months ago and am still to receive anything from the club.

Not sure whether that means I've been included in the numbers or not, but the response from the membership dept of the club is disappointing to say the least.

Record Membership for 2009

The growth of the Carlton Football Club continues with a record 43,294 supporters joining as members in 2009.

This is an increase of over 2,500 on the previous membership record of 40,764 last year.

“This is a sensational result for the Club and reinforces the wonderful support the Carlton Football Club receives from a strong, committed supporter base,” said Carlton CEO, Greg Swann.

“We certainly appreciate the outstanding support, particularly in tough economic times. This Club is very fortunate to have such a loyal supporter base with so many getting behind the Club in recent years to ensure Carlton continues to grow and develop,” Swann added.

Carlton’s membership has increased by 14,538 since 2006 when the membership total was 28,756. In 2007 the total jumped to a record 35,431 and then in 2008 a new record of 40,764 was set.

As well as the improving on-field performances and development of the team, Swann also credits the 2009 membership slogan as having a positive impact on membership and general promotion of the Club this year.

“There is no doubt ‘They Know We’re Coming’, has played an important role in the climbing membership numbers. The campaign has been an overwhelming success with many clubs adding to the overall promotion of the Carlton Football Club by mimicking the slogan during the year.

“The numbers are obviously very pleasing and we have members from all over Australia, including over 2,400 in Western Australia. What is exciting for the Club going forward is that we now have over 10,000 junior members (10,103).”

The AFL credited us with less than 40k ticketed members this year. It seems we are counting all memberships together and have been having a go at other team for doing that.

I assume our Blue memberships are included here. At any rate, why are our non-ticketed memberships so few in comparison to most other teams?

hopefully next year we can push the 50k mark, will be tough but if we can make finals and impress we could be a chance

True ODN, I think it was just under 40k members the AFL credited us with last year even though we had 40,764.

I am not sure if non ticketed, Blue memberships etc are counted in the tally, but we will just have to wait & see what the AFL credit us this year.
Still a good result overall :thumbsu:

Even when times were tough for the club, our membership base grew. Not many clubs can say that :)

What a fantastic effort!! As Swanny said, it really does show how committed our supporters really are.

Well done! :thumbsu:

I'm pretty sure the "Blue Memberships" aren't included in the tally. Long Distance 5 - which most of us in WA have is.
Thanks Swanny for the special mention to the 2400 WA Members.

Guns will make sure we have at least 3000 next year .

Non ticketed is NOT included in that tally i was told.

We had 5k odd blue members (non ticketed) last year. Would expect similar or more this year.

I dont know why last year the AFL knocked a few off our tally. Im sure they have there reasons.

Great effort by all.
