I'll have to agree to disagree boys. Lovett is becoming mor consistent each year. Winderlich can't even stay consistantly fit. How do you knoe the difference in their attitudes? You have not seen anything of Winders this year. Lovett has a few issues, but so what. His attitude towards working hard on his game, and becoming more consistent has improved. He is better in every aspect of the game than Winderlich IMO. I'll nearly guarantee there is more chance Lovett will contribute more to us having a crack at the flag in a couple of years, than Winderlich will. He is maturing late, but so did McVeigh. I think it would be madness to trade him. If Winderlich is as good as many strangely seem to believe, he deserves to be shopped around more, because he certainly is not contributing as much, and with a dodgy back, I would be seeking to get him out ASAP.
In 6 years on the list Winderlich has never averaged more than 8 possesions a game, Lovett has never averaged less than 14 in 4 years on the list. Lovett is averaging nearly 10 more than Winders ever has, and also has him covered in most statistics. If anything, Winderlich is a candidate for being delisted. His return in the time on the list just has not been god enough.
Someone above said Lovett was playing a Winderlich type role, I think it is the other way around.

IMO Trade Winderlich for any draft pick, or delist him. Someone mentioned also earlier, Houli and Dempsey will also play similar roles. There is no room for Winders anymore.

I too am concerned that Windas and Dempseys bodies may not be up to the rigors of AFL footy, but one more pre season and a chance for next year they both deserve.

Huh?

It started off well then it looks like you lost your marbles half way through.

Winderlich averaged 19 last year and 17 this year. You don't delist someone like him. He has shown over the past two years what he is capable of. He should be given every chance to get his body right for AFL football.

Delisting Winderlich?

The only reason Lovett being delisted is being discussed is discipline issues. It's got nothing to do with how good he is. We all know how good Lovett can be. You're missing the point completely.

Yes, it is true my Marbles are not tightly packed Kelvin. I made an error reading his statistics, (misreading his average marks as his possesions). However my stance that I would rather trade Winderlich (injury prone), before Lovett stands. Winderlich to me, is not a game breaker or match winner. He will have some trade value.

Re: Merged Lovett threads

If we are to give up Lovett, who do we look to, for draft picks or for players. was looking at the West Coast list and they have a couple of players that are premium players that may not be going as well as the eagles may have liked, Ben McKinley would be a perfect fit, looking to the future, a third tall, is only 184cm plays as a tall but. Would be suitable, only thing is, do we really need him with plenty of young forwards coming through our ranks, other players mentioned that may be gone at years end are young Matthew Spangher, a young key defender. and also Eric Mcenzie, anotheryoung key defender. may be suitable in a trade deal. am only throwing names out their. thats all.

doubt the WCE would look at Lovett though

Would like to get Spangher off their hands, I remember watching him playing for the Vics in the under 18 champs a couple of years back and he had a great mark and massive leap, not sure how much he has progressed but he certainly has potential, could solve our young backline depth problems. Possibly Lovett & 4th round draft pick for Spangher & 2nd round draft pick could be on the cards..?

Re: Line up vs Richmond.

Any pressure on Atkinson and Dyson to play good games and keep their spots on the list?
Dyson has 2 years, any chance if he doesn't perform for the rest of the year his gone? Will Knights do it, or keep him one more year.
Imo, Dyson is in a lot more danger has had plenty of chances and has done nothing. We have to bite the bullet and get rid of him if he doesn't step up with the opportunities presented to him. If you don't want to play go away.
As for Atkinson, i think his inexperience and time on the list will save him for the moment.

No pressure on Dyson, he has the security of a contact and is liked by the coach.

Huge pressure on Atkinson, he's only getting a game because of injury, he hasn't shown much form (although limited amounts of game time), he is a mature aged rookie and can't be kept on the rookie list next year.

I don't see Atkinson promoted because to have an extended look at him.

I just hope that Dyson doesn't become the next Bolton or Henneman.
Knights has to better and stronger than that.

Dyson's been in the system a long time now - drafted back in 2003 - same year as Stanton. I hope he does step up and show us his potential cos his speed through the midfield would add another dimension to our game but if he doesn't step up then I'm afraid it could be curtains.

Re: Line up vs Richmond.

A two year contract was an assurance from the coach he'd be afforded that time to develop.

We could have offered him a one year deal and in lieu of other offers, he would have accepted.

There is little, to no doubt in my mind that Dyson will be on our list next year.

I agree I dont think Dyson can feel that comfortable in the security of a 2nd year on his contract. He has been very disappointing this year, as he is now 23ish and should consolidated his position if there was one there for him.

Think of it like this, with all the injuries we have had, this is the year that guys like Dyson should grab the opportunity and forge their careers, sadly Dyson hasn't. If we have a better run with injuries next year and only use say 32 players for the year do you really think Dyson will be a part of that? I would like to think so, but I doubt it with guys like Hislop, Dempsey, Myers, Nash, Gus, Houli, Reimers, Winders + this years draft picks all looking for a spot on the wing or half back/half forward.

Re: Line up vs Richmond.

I'm not a big fan, but are we expecting too much of him.
He's not Brent Stanton, he's not going to reach those heights.

But he's still averaged 15 disposals per game and played some very good footy in his 8 games. That's the same as Reimers, more than Myers, Lonergan, Rama, Hislop, Jetta. And whilst I understand many of them are younger, I think we are all expecting or wanting an out and out star, without being satisfied for a competitor.

His games against Geelong, Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs were pretty good.
His work rate against St Kilda was much improved.

He too has been injured...

He'll be at Essendon next year, rightly or wrongly.

Re: Line up vs Richmond.

In his 5 years Dyson has not shown one thing to say that he is a league footballer. Not once has he had an impact on a game.

He should be one of the first chopped at the end of the year.

He's a poor mans Lonie or Kade Simpson and is actually worse than Bullen or Ben Haynes.

But it is true!:D

Good game from Ricky today.

I can see your point, but even people who don't read BigFooty (well not quite) know your opinion on Dyson.
