Barlow speaking after the game. I love that he never puts a foot wrong. It's not that he's a perfect footballer. Michael Barlow has given a a blunt and honest assessment of the game, both for he and the team, but it's more than that -- you get the sense that he will intelligently work on what he has identified as deficiencies and continually monitor those deficiencies (i.e. he is his own coach). His assessment was honest and perceptive, but also pretty pragmatic. Here's what went wrong, here's why it went wrong, here's what will motivate us to fix it. Footy is still a passionate game, but it's also a profession -- and it's the super professional people like Michael Barlow who will lift their clubs.

All I really wanted to say is that, in any bad situation, the only way to win is to learn. I think, where our club has perhaps previously just tried blindly to lift on the back of passion (in fact, many clubs have), we've become very professional and we now know how to learn. The positive out of today wasn't necessarily that we have Michael Barlow back as a player, but that we have him as a leader for many years to come. You watch, they'll all be as professional as Michael Barlow in a few years time.

I have honestly never had so much respect for a player as I do with Barlow.
Also have never loved a man like I do :heart::heart::heart: Barlow :heart::heart::heart:

The man can do no wrong

Give him both the captaincy and the keys to the City of Fremantle as well!

(Bit of cloning wouldn't go amiss either)

I only hoped he would get through unscathed but the way he played put any doubts I had about him getting back to full form and fitness in 2012 aside.

Well done Barlow and hope to see you at Subi next week playing with some guys with the same attitude you have displayed.

Huge respect for Barlow - the player and the person.

Whilst he is truly a loyal person I would not blame him for seeking a trade back to Vic at the end of his 2 year contract, and a couple of other youngsters out. They naturally want to play with a passionate team that has REAL prospects of winning a premiership.

Games like today will do nothing than show them they are wasting their time at Freo.

I read this earlier this arvo and almost made a thread about it myself. Man I hope the team plays for each other more next week. He deserves to not have to carry the hopes of the whole club on his shoulders. Someone needs to stand up and take the pressure off his game.

I know you're trolling, but in all seriousness he'll stay at Freo unless we kick him out the door/offer him a terrible contract.

If you've watched his interviews he's stated more than once that he feels like he owes a great debt to the club for taking a chance on him. And you know Barlow's a genuine bloke, he's not lying through his teeth when he says that.

He loves it at Fremantle! Always states how much he loves it here in interviews.

I am willing to put my hand up to marry him though so that he never leaves WA.

Barlow might feel like he owes a debt to the club, but the rest of the club and its players sure as hell owe it to Barlow to put in the effort that Barlow does.

You people in WA better go nuts for him when he gets his first kick next week.
We all tried to yesteday at the G but the 1000 or so freo fans couldn't really make enough noise to make him feel fully appreciated.

It's pathetic that a guy comes back from breaking his leg 12 months before and is the best player on our team. Not pathetic on Barlow's front, who is a star, but pathetic for the rest of the team.

I just hope Barlow doesn't get Fremantled and can continue like he is, might captain the next rebuild to a premiership. Has heart, and desire to win.

It's the self assessment that I like. He was better than about 20 or so players out there, but feels he was as responsible for the loss as anyone.

If he isn't prime captaincy material, I don't know who is.

Yeah definitely the ideal candidate for our next Captain.
Its sad to think a guy who has played 14 games is probably our best ever midfielder

Might be a good thing that a guy who's played 14 games is our best midfielder (after Mundy but he's out at the moment). Hopefully the others will lift because of it. Although, that being said, I got the feeling that last saturday they probably left a bit too much for Barlow to do.

Barlow will never be "Fremantled", that is the past. Any player involved with Freo is going to become 'Barlowed' from here on in.

why dont you go support the supposedly passionate teams then. posts like these deserve to be red carded freo supporter or not.

You were definately audible on TV Wiz. :thumbsu:

One of my favourite players outside of the AFC. So good to see him back and that the injury doesn't look to have affected him as much as I thought it would ala Nathan Brown style. Hope he keeps dominating :)
