Thommo stopping a young SANFL player from developing is more a cause for concern. Barlow is a hard runner and can still play at a high level.

Agree with your Thommo opinion, Still not sold on signing Barlow though, Especially if as reported on 9 news it could be for 3 years.

So we obviously are after Barlow because we need a good midfielder. How is it going to look if we fail to secure him after our Gibbs failure?

We want good players unless they cost too much. In which case we prefer mediocre players and midtable finishes!

3 years seems a lot, but if we front load it with Gibbs' unspent $600k we can probably just shake hands and pay out his 3rd year at the end of 2018.

Agree to disagree - I think he'll add to our midfield, but he WAS delisted by Freo (not that I think he should have been), so it's not like the competition to sign him will be extremely fierce

We are one of four clubs he has to choose from and he's going to mull over it over the next week, it's already fierce

How many sides are there chasing Barlow that are in contention ? ......that's our big seeling point to any player .....it's why Gibbs all of a sudden wanted to be traded to Adelaide, gets the money and a potential flag .....Carlton saw that as well & were pissed

I reckon the Hawks will likely go Barrett, much,much younger, more athletic.....and Mitchell, Lewis and other depth mids let go so he'd be excellent depth....and his cousin Luke Bruest already there.
