Do you like to pretend you know something about footy?

Doughty may not have produced consistently, but to suggest he has low ability just says that you know sweet FA about football.

yes or rather you have a non-sexual attraction to doughty.

roo, macca- high ability

Thompson- high potential

Doughty- No potential, low-medium(thats generous) ability.

Stop over looking his one dimensional play and realise that you are just wrong on this one.

doughty has been up and down all season. He had an absolute shocker against collingwood which stood out, but he has had a sprinkling out good games and poor games since then. Last wk was poor, geelong was poor, this week was good.

And consistency will only make a top level player if he has the ability to play at a high level like roo. Otherwise there are many players that are consistent, yet dont reach a high performance due to their ability. Doughty has a low ability but is inconsistent too.

And comparing macca and doughty is silly, macca doesnt turn the ball over when he has a poor game, he just has a low impact. Doughty gets the ball and freezes, not knowing what to do with it, turns it over and puts the team under pressure. Just like skippy does. Still a valuable 2nd tier player though, until knights VB and future draftees come in, but not in the 'breathtaking' class.

Jack you are a joke. You need to get the ********e out of your eye, because you and others on this board must not be able to see the good work Doughty does each week.

He has been very consistent this year and his game on Saturday night just confirmed what I have been saying all year. he is an important cog in this team.. His versatility is critical to the side - he can play back, play up forward, play in the midfield and also tag. He gives some of our first choice midfielders an opportunity to have a rest and he sets up play time and time again with his hands.

Repent all you sinners and "doughting thomases". Doughty is now paying back the faith the AFC had in him. He now has over 50 games under his belt and his consistent performances this year have seen realise that he can mix it at this level.

A similar situation exists with Shirley. I have the courage to admit I was wrong with him. You and the other Doughty knockers nned to eat a little bit of humble pie, because it is alll over your face brother!!!!

Amen!!!

yes, why didnt you start this last week? was it cause it showed he has absolutely no idea when it comes to playing in the middle

he is a Hbf/pocket, and pinch hitter on a hff. He is scared to kick it half the time and his decision making puts teamates under pressure. He had a good half last game, big deal, he is 26 and we should expect him to be contributing. When he does you wet you pants and say he is a star.

Oh boy!!!!!!

How about you go back to last weeks game and have a look at that little burst where we kick a few goals in a row. Now go back to the center square and see who was it that provided the clearences from Biglands' taps?????? And how was it that Doughty's clearences sparked our scoring run and eventually won us the game.

He is NOT useless in the center square. In fact he has a very clean pair of hands in close. And no jack he is not a back pocket player. He likes the freedom to run. His best positions are HBF and wing.

Stiffy...we can agree on one thing.

Ol' outback jack just puts a lot of negative crap out there. When he throws so much out, some of it will stick, but the rest shows he's just making guesses and really doesn't know much at all about the Crows, and possibly football in general.

Correct Stiffy.

And while we are on the subject just look at the tapes and see how many goals this year have been caused by Doughty assists.

You could also get these statisitcs from the club. OJ and Macca you may be surprised.

My last two tips have been the Mattner Train and Doughty - I have already last November talked about Knights being a steal at 56. I guess the AFC agree with people like myself rather than others who frequent this board. Thnaks heavens they can see trees from the forest.

Doughty has actually been adaptable this year as he has being playing a fillin role - a backup to Shirley & other midfielders when they need a break (usually a run-with role), as well as playing on a HBF. How is that 1 dimensional? I would suggest your "thinking" on football is far more 1-dimensional!

I am a huge ‘Doughty’ knocker
I love how you put his name in inverted commas, as if to say, "Doughty, if that is your real name." :D

Good post. Some of his 1%ers on saturday really did have a solid impact on the game. That smoother in the last quarter was pretty amazing considering he virtually had to rotate his body after being turned around.

being the only original member of the doughty and shirley fan club last year things are looking up for the survival of the club.

Doughty has a uncanny ability to handball to the correct guy under pressure and he seems to hit his mark more often than not.

Although 1 thing i do notice is that he is prone for 1 major clanger every game (the kick against the Roos, the mark agasint the pies etc etc) but from there always gets on with it.

that smother on the line should be replayed before every game for the rest of the season awesome stuff

Doughty was great. But that doesn't mean he hasn't deserved criticism for earlier performances. This shows what he can do when he puts his body in and doesn't stuff around with the ball trying to be too fancy. He showed some urgency and discipline which has been lacking at times. Hope he keeps it up.

This post sums it perfectly in regards to M Doughty.

Doughty has been unfairly maligned IMO - good foot and hand skills he has in the main been very dependable.

I won't say too much because I'm obviously extremely biased, but his last quarter was fantastic.

I was very close to the tackle in the last quarter and almost busted a couple of ribs and tore my vocal cords hanging over the fence screaming "BALL" at that insipid hack of an umpire.

Very pleasing.
