how many newspapers would hurley sell if on the front page? none. how many papers would fevola sell? shitloads. of course they wont get the same attention from the HUN.

thats how tabloid papers work. stop reading them and clicking on links and your problems will be solved.

edit: beaten by ms3 :)

According to the Herald Sun Michael Hurley has been arrested.
Just wondering would he get the same attention Fev did and if he doesnt it is a disgrace as he was alleged to have kicked a taxi driver in the groin and punched him. That IMO is a lot worse then getting drunk at a function.

This the is the link to the article

Perhaps not as bad as Fev (except Fev is on strike 6) but if true he broke the law as well as being morally wrong. But do you give this guy a light penalty and wait for him to gradually offend worse and worse as he becomes a bigger and bigger star? Or do you sack him (once the facts are established and beyond dispute) and say to everyone else playing or going to play that we dont tolerate this any more. Enough! Believe me he wont be missed. Remember Oliver? No I didnt think so, but at the time I remember wishing he would just play, he was supposed to be that good. No matter how good a player is, if he is gone we move on. Once we get that attitude in our game, we wont have these issues but for as long as we decide that players are too important to lose and we therefore will suspend our better judgment for them and let them slide on things then they will keep doing these things. And I dont care how good they are or how well behaved they have been. One strike and you are gone. Period.

Both fev and hurley are idiots

One got super pissed and made an ass out of himself, his captain, his club and his employer the other got super pissed and beat up a taxi driver thus making an ass out of himself, and his employer

Pretty comparable to me

Things could be worse though... couldn't they

Hurley could have seriously hurt the taxi driver or fev could have gone further then he did (or he did and it wasnt shown which seems likely given there is a board meeting about him)

Essendon board thread..

Fev plays up again.

All getting in to him. (a few on fevs side)

Michael Hurley named and less than 1 hour later, the thread closes.

lol :thumbsu:

Look there's a big difference between the two events: one guy makes a fool of himself and the other assaults someone. Clearly therefore, the incident involving Carlton is much worse.

I look forward to the media exploring some interesting angles on the Hurley case ... headlines we can expect:

"Hickmott told me to do it: Hurley"

"Campo my mentor says Hurley"

"Hurley barracked for Carlton has a kid"

"Fev inspired me"

"Carlton chasing disgraced Bomber"

I am sure there's an angle there Caro. You idiot.

They locked it after I posted in it....for laughing

Extraordinarily soft.....can I appeal this or have a "higher power" look into it?

Don't bother - you will lose far more sleep trying to challange that I reckon.

The reason why Fev is coping heaps is because there are images! No footage of Hurley. Plus he is Fev of course and the HS know that people will love to see the man drunk after the season has ended (call a priest!)

So you're comparing assault and doing a runner with getting drunk at a function. Obviously intelligence isn't one of your best points.

What a dill.

im saying both should be scrutinised?

Cant be that hard to comprehend surely

How about we just concern ourselves with issues within our own club rather than worry about whether incidents at other clubs get similar coverage?

In other words, make getting our own house in order the priority and forgetting what happens elsewhere.

No, you actually said both incidents were "pretty comparable", which they are not because one involves an alleged criminal act in which someone has been assaulted, the other involves some obnoxious behaviour but no-one getting hurt.

Well with all the $hit fev is getting and the amout of people calling for him to be sacked for having a few too many drinks and playing up, it would only be reasonable for us to assume that Hurley will go to jail for about 15 years for belting someone????

They are completely seperate incidents but both will be scrutinised as optimax said.

I think if found guilty Essendon will be quite severe with their punishment to Hurley. He has broken the and needs to be punished accordingly.

On the Fevola incident the only reason people are calling for his head are because of Swann's comments last year. It is quite obvious that Fev is much too valuable to Carlton to ever be delisted, hence the major outcry.

he would have told the driver that he was just going to get some food... and hopped out of the vehicle to get the food, the driver thought he was doing a running... into a store where he is still clearly visible and runs after him to collect his fare.

and thats how the fight started...

Stupid move by Hurley to be perfectly honest and he should get the book thrown at him, but seeing as he is a sportsman, he will get a huge fine, be made to do an anger management course and a alcohol rehab course and a huge chunk of community service.

we have only heard one side to the story. lucky he dosen't play for us.
the media would be going crazy on our club by now.

the difference here is that Hurley is Hurley and Fevola is Fevola. Fev sell's papers, Hurley wont :thumbsu:

See below - Hurley would have had to ask the driver to stand in front of a surveillance camera because he wanted to make a public egg of himself

Michael is a 19 year old kid who has made 1 mistake (although it was a pretty big one). Fevola is a 28 year old man who should have learnt from the huge number of massive mistakes he has made by now. How many more chances does Carlton need to give Fevola???

There is a difference between offensive and criminal behaviour. But its Fev, so lets blow it out of all proportion. Age is no excuse for Hurley, he is old enough to know that punching and kicking someone is wrong. I'd rather have Fev pissed as a newt singing bad karaoke than pinging at nightclubs all over town and getting into fights.
