Recommitted Michael Hurley?

No one needs to trade for Hurley, he can become a FA due to Essendon's lack of Duty of Care and failing to provide a safe workplace. This has been stated many times so not sure why people keep throwing up trade scenarios.

If Hurley wants to go to Hawthorn or Sydney or Adelaide he just walks there. I'm sure all of those clubs offer him more chance of success and they would adjust their caps to fit him in.

Personally, I'd like to see him re-sign with Essendon, they need all the banned players to become mid table competitive.

No he cant has to go through a grievance tribunal first and win his case which is not guaranteed.

I'm pretty sure the only news source that came up with that was Yahoo and that's pretty self-explanatory. He is not available as a free agent.

There's a myriad of factors that go into Hurley leaving as a DFA.

1.Does he want to leave?
2.Does he want Essendon to be compensated?
3.Is he prepared to go to a grievance tribunal?
4.Will the tribunal find in his favour?

The same could have been said about Carlisle last year, but Essendon and St Kilda reached an agreement. It's not as simple as just Hurley just deciding to leave and he can automatically go to the club of his choosing.

Essendon have already stated they will not stand in the way of a player looking to change clubs after the saga, but there's minimal chance any Essendon listed player will leave as a DFA if they are under contract.

There's been multiple since the Yahoo/WAian link. I've posted them on here in some of the Essendon player-related threads. Basically it comes down to everyone's opinion on what the tribunal would find, and given the number of yesnoyesnoyeses in this whole saga already I'm not going to hazard a guess. The summary is he could potentially leave as a DFA, but it'd be easier to be traded.

Sounds like he's going to stay anyway. Probably won't be announced until the end of the year though.

you'd like me to list every single factor at play here or just the pertinent ones?
What's the difference between being a "factor at play" and being "pertinent"?

If it's a factor, then it's pertinent, no?

Also, myriad means "countless or extremely great in number". So presumably more than four?

So yeah, please share the myriad of factors.

All issues aside, you sound like a tosser.

He MIGHT leave as DFA, but it would be easier for HIM and the CLUB if he didn't.

Hope he stays, and if he leaves, I'll take pick 2, thanks.

A myriad of issues?

Caps make all the difference.

Way to address the point, he MIGHT try to leave as DFA, but it would expose him to another tribunal which he MIGHT lose.

Easier for HIM and the CLUB if they trade him.

Sure, Bombers might be forced into unders, but the DFA route is almost gone.

So they announce Bellchambers but not this? Right.....
Maybe because this deal hasn't been finalised yet? I'm sure that this will be announced as soon as he signs.

Penned a new 5 year deal was what has been said in here. Just assumed that mean signed, must mean something else.
I believe they're in the final stage of negotiations and is about to sign. Probably announced this week.
