I'd love to know how or why everyone thinks Hurley is going.

Let's be honest you are taking information from the worst player manager ever in Paul Connors. Connors is only doing this to bump up his own income and ego.

Ah maybe you check out who else Connors manages...Ryder, Crameri, Hibberd...and Hurley.

No one does. Essendon are always so hard to deal with, but they're going to have to accept a fair deal this time, or risk losing him for nothing.

^^ and please no immature insults and attacks on people with red hair because I wrote that

Cry me a river. The 'Essendon are hard to deal with' line gets wheeled out willy nilly every year with no actual intelligent thought behind it. So you think Essendon should just lie down and cop it in every orifice from clubs who want our players on the cheap? Dream on. That is loser mentality. No problem if players want to leave given what has happened, but the club has a responsibility to get the best possible compensation in a deal. If you think otherwise, you're living in la la land.

Let's just remember, he is contracted. The DFA scenario is just speculation - no one knows whether it will be easy or not to break the contract, people are just guessing. The going rate will be 2 first round picks or 1 very high pick. He is more valuable than Treloar AND he is contracted.

You won't get more for him than Treloar fetched due to the circumstances.

The only reason the Crows got unders for Danger is because he wanted to go to Geelong who had **** all to trade with.
But that's the issue with all trades. If Hawthorn throw their hat in the ring, you'd get less again. I guess you have to hope if he goes, Hurley chooses a lowly side who can offer more through picks.

No club will pay 2 firsts for Hurley. He's not worth that and if you ask for something like that or as dumbass Lloyd puts it "an Alex Rance type deal" (Hurley's not worth anywhere near Rance) then Hurley will have every right to try and get his contract voided because you guys didn't fairly give him the chance to leave after putting his life in danger the last few years.

Essendon needs to realise they're not in some position of making demands with Hurley. They have to let him go for a fair and reasonable trade (say a top 10 pick or equivalent) or he's going to be able to get his contract voided

Would be happy with a top 10 pick but none of the top clubs have it.

Yep if he goes I'm hoping it's a lower side. Out of the top teams I would say GWS will be the best option they have the Treloar pick and players to trade.

He's not really contracted though is he?

All 12 suspended have had to recommit to the club regardless of their contracted status. Essendon have announced each one, so if they were contracted this wouldn't be required as essendon would expect them to return.

Essendon have already stated they won't stand in anyone way (caveat with a decent trade required). Are essendon really going to enforce the contract or have the player sit out a second year if they don't get the trade they want.

Negotiations are about what position of power you hold.

Essendon hold their power that multiple clubs will make offers and even if he nominated a club that's doesn't stop essendon dealing with other ie hawthorn last year

Essendon doesn't hold the power that he is contracted and the club will keep him if a suitable trade isn't found. That's not a situation that anyone in the afl/essendon will want to occur after this saga

Would be happy with a top 10 pick but none of the top clubs have it.

Suggested before that I hope the dogs offer our first let's say 12 - 14 range and that we upgrade our second with one of GWS later first round selections (previously held by Geelong).

So really someone like a GWS can break the deadlock which will happen if we offer our first and second and instead Essendon receive 2 mid to late first rounders in exchange for Hurley.

So for example picks 13 and 15 go to Essendon for Hurley.

So are we dismissing John worsfold's comments from during the week theen...the coach would know a lot more than a greedy player manager. We should have learnt that with Stanton's comments during the week.

I'm not saying Essendon should take unders at all and I'm not saying that they should just hand him over.

All I'm saying is that they need to accept a FAIR deal with this one because otherwise they will lose him for nothing. A fair deal is not two first rounders or Alex Rance, that is just typical Essendon being hard to deal with talk. A fair deal is one top ten pick, with possibly a fringe player as a sweetener. I bet most here that aren't Essendon supporters would agree with me.

Asking for the equivalent of Rance or two firsts just helps to fuel the argument that Essendon is hard to deal with because Hurleys not worth that and won't fetch that in a trade, especially when he's been out of the game for 12 months and doesn't look to be in great physical shape

So you are choosing to believe the club? Sometimes clubs lie, even a notoriously honest club like Essendon....

Until Hurley advises his decision we don't know it's that simple.

An AA defender is worth the same as another AA defender..both of whom are in elite in the field.

They are not equal at all. Rance is the best defender in the game, and is in his own league above Hurley. Don't get me wrong. Hurley is a very good player. But he isn't on the same level as Rance who some people (not myself) believe is the best player in the game right now

How do you come up with the observation that he's not in 'great physical shape'? Is it the fact that he's let his hair grow and has the bushy beard?

Rance and Hurley were the best 2 defenders in the comp before he got banned.
