Absolute ****ing champion.

Greatest pop singer and the greatest entertainer of all time. One hell of a dancer aswell. Terrible day.

I agree with you PK, this board is very much rock dominated and the amount of trolls that hip hop, rnb and other genres get are way too much.

MJ is my fav musician of all time and I doubt anyone will get near him.

I lost some respect for him during the allegations, but his music, performances and the phenomena surrounding the dude were a huge part of growing up. Slowly my childhood is fading out :(

The points already been made in this thread i think, but his music - is it actually they good? He seems like a revolutionary entertainer but not revolutionary musician, there's a big difference there. His music itself, when removed from the hype and in particular the videos, is nothing outstanding, and this is a sad endictment on music today. Alot of it is hype, is light shows its synth and completely fake sounding pap, and Jackson probably spawned alot of this.

Never been a fan of the music or the person, and they hype and overcoverage of this death is somewhat disgusting

I am a massive metalhead and even I can say with a straight face that Michael Jackson was indeed an absolute legend of the music industry, almost transcendent in a way.

It'll be a long time before we see anyone else with his talent in the pop music business. As opposed to today's "pop stars" who are engineered in a board room by record company execs. and churned out on a production line, Michael Jackson actually had TALENT and a shitload of it.

Been watching the video to Don't Stop and even in such a simple video you can see him entertaining. He lights up the screen, and he looked genuinely happy in that video, too.

As for his music only being good because he could entertain, well that's just false. I heard all of his songs before seeing any of them, and it's his music and his voice that got me hooked.

We definitely lost a legend.

Im wondering when the calvalcade of re-releases will begin, espec unreleased stuff(some of which was done with Freddie Mercury in about '83)

The performance he did at the Motown 25th Anniversary show of Billy Jean is simply one of the most mesmerising in popular music

That performance was absolutely magic (and its influence on contemporary Pop Music is beyond measure.)

The first Album I ever actually owned was Thriller. I received it as a present from my Folks after I returned home from a School Camp. I wouldn't call myself a complete Michael Jackson fan (well at least; not compared to some of his more dedicated fanatical fans) but IMO that Album is the greatest "Pop" Album of all-time. :thumbsu:

I have my doubts as to whether it will happen, but I hope Michaels ultimate legacy will be the music he created and not the image of the sad figure that he became. People do not acknowledge fully that Michael had mental illnesses that he battled throughout most of his public life. Whilst these illnesses would never actually excuse any of his actions that broke laws, they do help explain some of his unusual behaviours and lifestyle choices. Ultimately, even though it may seem harsh; every person in the world has to stand up for themselves, acknowledge their predicaments and seek any help that they need. On the other hand; one could pity Michael because he lived in an unreal world, surrounded by individuals who may not have put his best interests first. This would have left him with no real chance of rehabilitation. :(

RIP The 'King of Pop.'

I'm puzzled as to why people don't rate HIStory or Dangerous, they were my favorite albums. Even Invincible was alright, I personally wouldn't put Thriller and Bad in the top bunch.
