I feel that our full-back Michael Jamison doesn't get enough credit on this board.

It's almost like he has slotted into our team too well, taking over one of the hardest positions on the ground with little fuss, little fanfare, but extremely effective results.

It's almost a given now that Jamo will defeat his opponent (usually comprehensively), and I feel we might be taking him for granted a bit. Other players get heaped with praise for a 'standard' game, whereas we just expect Jamo to do his job.

For someone who has only been in the system for two years, we really have uncovered an absolute star. Few have ever made the transition from obscurity to quality consistent senior football as quickly as Jamo...

Lightning closing speed, good footy brain, brilliant composure, very reliable skills, never goes to ground, rarely gets beaten one on one. This bloke will be one of the critical keys in our next premiership.

Reliable, yes. But that doesn't mean that his brilliance shouldn't be recognised.

Go Jamo. :thumbsu:

Agree with almost all of this, except the bit about this board not praising him, I think most people here think he's fantastic.

It does annoy me when people start talking about our lack of tall defenders when we had the CHB in the Victorian team and one of the best FB's in the league last year. You've then got Paul Bower who is only going to get bigger... Calm the F down people! Rome wasn't built (or drafted) in a day.

I've said it before but Jammo is the reincarnation of Michael Sexton. He's been a great find that has done more to fix the structure of our side than most other recruits have in the last four years - all for the price of a 2nd round rookie pick!

Now if only we can find a CHF the same way.

Cloke? Got him in the pre season draft, hopefully he can step up.

I see how you're thinking Harker, but I think Earl was quicker off the mark than Matty is. Draft camp tests will probably prove me wrong though. He's certainly a goal-kicker as we've already seen and he can only get better.

I almost prefer it that Jamo doesn't get any hype.

We all know he's a beauty, so if he keeps going the way he is we'll be just as happy with him if he doesn't get any recognition than if he does.

He's been a sensational find off the rookie list and looks like he'll be a quality defender for the Blues for 10 years, so I'm not too fussed if opposition supporters don't know who he is.

Does anyone else think like me here?

Kreuzer as CHF
Maybe not now, but breed him into the role

Why?
a. He is quick and gets to the contest
b. He has good hands in marking duels
c. Looks like a good football brain and could keep ball moving towards quick forwards.
d. He tackles like there is no tomorrow and will contest every 50/50 ball giving more forward line time for us.
e. He could be our modern day Earl Spalding. (This is a good thing)

Apparantly many at the club think so and he was not drafted specifically as a ruckman.
The club thinks he is a better fwd prospect and better footballer than Kennedy.
The club could have kept 3# + Kennedy and given away Kreuz, but chose not to

Kennedy did a 3.15 20m at DC
Kreuzer carried a niggle into DC and IIRC was in the 3.06 -3.08 range but had done a flat 3.00 earlier in the year.
To put that into perspective BG did a 3.00 at DC the year he went 1

CHF would be more about repeat 30 m sprints than 20m sprint times anyway as well as the endurance tests

Many players would be able to improve their sprint times under proper professional coaching, Kreuzer could well improve his sprint time, but may off set this when he gains extra kg's (which is frankly more important for a CHF)

OT - Where was Jamison drafted? Was he a rookie selection? He seems to have come from no where

yeah rookie selected
Gavin Crosisca really liked his work ... his recommendation brought jamo to the blues

I like him, I like him a lot, ditto Bow Wow :D :D

If we could only find another tall KP def, we'd be set ...

Certainly i'd rate our emerging backline ahead of the overrated Tuggers one.

Mcguane (who) ??? Kelvin 'hack' Moore ??? FFS

Jammo's a gem, but like most defenders, does not get the recognition that players in other positions will. I'm more than happy for him to slip under everybody else's radar while he helps to go on and win no 17 !!!

jammo is gunna be one of the best full backs in a few years time coz his skills are so good and he is so composed when his got the ball

Certainly highly rated by yours truly. Can play on both tall and short, as demonstrated when he took on and smashed Paul Medhurst earlier in the year. A real dour defender, and does his job almost every week. Pretty much has FB locked up.

I met "Hughes" our draft manager recently at training and asked him what was it he looked for when choosing players from the draft. He commented that "anything special" they did would catch his eye. It could be anything. He used Jamison as an example and said what he saw in Jamo was "he could punch a ball" like no other player he had seen. In other words he was alway s with his man and just punched the ball away. He coudn't mark much but had developed other skills since then. He got into the team because he would just punch the ball away from the forward.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
