I take it you’ve not seen Monty in the flesh.
He is better suited to that role, as was Voss vs being a line coach. It's more of an administrative role - Leave the line coaching to be done by better tacticians of the game.
He's a winner.
If he gets the Collingwood job can he please take Hinkley with him?

Voss is a winner and a good leader on-field but has never been a successful coach.
Bassett actually might have been a decent defensive coach. My key issue with Bassett isn't that he is terrible, but that he should never have been put in charge of a forward line.
Bassett coached a couple of flags with Nord didnt he?
How the * did they kick enough goals to do that?

They kicked 12 goals in the 2014 GF and held us to 11. (That wasn't Bassett by then, but they played like it was. Ben Warren was coach)

Port Adelaide’s Michael Voss has been Ken Hinkley’s right-hand-man for the past two seasons and was interviewed for the main Collingwood job on Saturday.
Out of contract at season’s end, it’s understood the Brisbane Lions great is considering moving away from coaching altogether if he misses out at the Magpies.
That would allow Port to elevate Brett Montgomery – who is contracted for 2022 – or go to the market for someone else.
Josh Francou wasn’t a fan of Adelaide’s training camp, which was part of the reason he left mid-contract to join Gold Coast. Now the 46-year-old is departing the Suns at the end of the season and heading back to South Australia. Could Port Power come calling? It would make sense if Voss’ exit creates a vacancy.
