Despite what they are spouting publically, the players are not happy under Mick, especially the younger ones. Each week is causing more and more damage to their confidence and morale. Any further games Mick coaches is just taking us backwards.
Think it's a bit much to speak for an entire group. Of course some players are going to be unhappy under Mick, they're several months from seeing the door.

If they players want to lift their confidence and morale, perhaps running hard for each other out on the ground may help?

Yep whole group might be too much. Let's limit it to the players that matter.

So, the question is then whether this cost - say $100k - will offset potential losses across the whole Club incurred by sticking with MM.

Malthouse started after his book tour, say Nov? Then we'd be paying out half year salary? $500k?

Still what's the cost of a 16k crowd at ET

Well ask the Saints in 2011!

""At Etihad Stadium, if we were to play 11 home games based on our 13,000 reserved seat holders, we’d be writing a cheque in the order of $900,000 to Etihad Stadium."

My concern is that what coach would want to join a bottom club, who for the past 15 years has sacked, backstabbed and broken contacts with its past coaches?
Keep him untill the end of the year, it betters our chances of securing a decent coach.

Mrs Pratt was big on getting Mick maybe she can cover all costs associated with sacking him. Im sure it wont break her budget.

Hmm, the club won't be financially able to keep him for the year if we have attendances of 16,000 to a home game. And after yesterdays performance, how many do you think will show up at our next home game, more than 16,000 or less than 16,000?

I wouldn't replace Mick, I'd wait till the end of the season and not renew his contract, and make a clean break from there.

My reasoning is replacing a coach mid-season gives underperforming players an 'alibi' and they may 'downhill ski' into staying onto the list another year.

If the players don't like Mick fine, that is no excuse for the disgusting stat of only 2 players with more than 2 tackles at 3/4 time yesterday.

I firmly believe Gibbs won't be at the club next year, and I honestly think its put up or shut up time for senior players who have been at this club for several years (Walker, Tuohy, Curnow, etc) to show if they have the right to stay at this club next year (Judd, Carrots, Warnock won't be here.

Those older players do not deserve to have the luxury of having a new coach save their bacon, there is plenty of time for the kids to get games, but the likes of Walker and 2E have to convince me by soldiering on under Mick for the rest of the season why we shouldn't trade them.

I know that won't be a popular view but i am thinking at least 10 - 12 list changes at season's end, and honeymoon caretaker coaching periods clouding objective (if hard) decisions on list management.

Geez DVB they can't perform much worse than they already are now.

I scoffed a few weeks ago but I'm warming to appointing Crazy Vossy as caretaker. He'd be desperate for a gig and take shit from no one vs. an existing assistant who's as shellshocked as anyone regarding the current game plan and morale of the club as any.

Break the shackles, play the kids, consult with SOS about the weaknesses in playing list and whether any pigeonholed youngsters can adapt to new roles. That's essentially what a new coach will do round 1 next year anyway, this way we get a 15 game head start and a heads up on trade week and the draft.

Voss on an extended contract? Hell, no. But in the meantime we can do a proper selection process.

Can't see Port releasing him mid season

Yes true, but I would find it galling and insulting if they actually decided to play better/lift their game under a caretaker coach.

I for one, am very keen for Walker to be moved on/traded at season's end, but the trouble is, under a new coach, Walker may find a purple patch under a caretaker coach and the club may decide to keep him.

That's what's troubling me in all this talk of caretaking coach, and btw, I have no issue with the kids/players who can't get a fair go like Graham or Holman, its more the older generation players whom are the big problem at the club, aside from Mick, obviously

Anyone else heard the rumour that Worsfold has already agreed terms? Not sure if it will be immediately or at seasons end?

He wouldn't break his contract with Port to be a caretaker. Would need the usual terms.
